On Thursday, Shirley-Anne Gardiner from Momentum Health gave us a fantastic update on the work of the organisation’s activities. Momentum Health is a very worthy organisation to be one of the three beneficiaries agreed to for the vehicle entry fees of OBG 2025.

It was also great to see an appearance from Doc Smith and have another “sounding out” visit from David Groves of RC Wynnum and Manly. The stand-in Sergeant was a bit tough fining the visiting President of the RC of Launceston (Sonia Smith) on her visit to our club last Thursday.

 

Thank you to those of you that responded to the appeal for replies regarding the Club Christmas Party. I am very pleased to inform you that we have reached the critical number so the event that is booked for Saturday the 30^th will go ahead. Rob Baryla and his team have a great concept planned for us at Laurel Bank gardens under the cover of the Park Hall. Chilli and Barney will be there playing some Christmas tunes and it will be a lovely catered festive lunch.

Now we need everyone who is going along to pre-pay either into the Club account directly or to Allan with the eftpos machine on Thursday.

 

At the Board meeting on Wednesday 13^th the Board agreed to once again ask our Club members to support “The Yellow Bucket” Christmas appeal from YellowBridge. On December 12^th (Club AGM and last meeting at the Downs Club for 2024) we will be asking members to bring along appropriate Christmas hamper foods and or donations.

 

I spoke again at our Thursday meeting about the implementation of ClubRunner. The Board has a desire to have every member and honorary member downloading the ClubRunner App onto their smart phone. Roger has produced a one-page cheat sheet on how to do this and sent it out to everyone. I also spoke again of the need to get everyone to edit their data so that the system can work most efficiently. Lastly I mentioned that I want each of you to register for the ClubRunner event “member data update test” – this is the indicator the Board is using to assess the progress of the uptake. Thank you to Mark Redmenod who stayed behind after the Thursday meeting to offer assistance to any member who needed extra help to sort this out.

The Board set a target of having each of our 46 members and 10 honorary members updated by the 12^th of December. So far we have 14 who have completed the task.

Can I implore each of you to have a read of the November edition of Rotary Down Under. I found the information on the breadth of work undertaken by The Rotary Foundation to be truly inspiring. It makes you very proud to belong to such a worthwhile organisation as Rotary.

 

As I mentioned last Thursday I will be away for the next two Thursday’s and VP Russell Manns will be in the head chair. Unfortunately I will also be away for the Club Christmas party on the 30^th.
