At last Thursday’s meeting I was once again super impressed with the two young people who come to our Club and tell their story. Miss Furaha Iranzi was our candidate that we sponsored to RYTS (Rotary Youth Transition Seminar) late last year. She was accompanied by Laura Hallett who was a former RYTS participant and last year was one of the Leaders at RYTS. Both young ladies spoke of the influence that the RYTS week had on their lives and the tremendous benefit the program gave them. I am sure everyone who heard them speak will agree that the RYTS program is money very well spent!!
The Rotary year is fast drawing to a conclusion with only 3 more lunchtime meetings until I hand over the reins to PE Gary. On Tuesday 3rd we will have the Joint RCTE Board meeting. The incoming 25-26 RCTE members (who are not away!) will join the current board for a light meal and the June Board meeting.
We will also have the Cluster breakfast meeting this coming Thursday – where all of the local Rotary Club Presidents and their PE’s will meet with our AG. This will also be one of the last duties for our Area Governor (our very own Roger Klaassen) who will step down at the end of the month after 3 years in the role. In-coming AG will be Wendy Byron from RC Toowoomba Metro.
I am looking forward to hearing from Cameron Ashmore at out lunchtime meeting this week – this will be the second instalment of his personal profile and his experiences in the Qld Fire and Rescue Service. He has promised that this will wrap it up from him. No three part sagas like we have been entertained with from a couple of our Zimbabwean members!
The “Last” Great debate is scheduled for the 12th of June – with a topic chosen on surviving a Zombie apocalypse.
Our annual Awards day is on the 19th of June.
Don’t forget to RSVP to the invitation to the Club Changeover on the 27th.
A fee will apply to any member late with an apology regardless of whether the number attending on the meeting day of the meeting is over, under or equal to what the Club Secretary submitted to the Downs Club. This fee will only apply to meetings at the Downs Club or any other club meeting where attendance numbers have to be stipulated prior to the meeting.
A Club member will be charged a meal fee of $20 if they
fail to submit any apology before 11am on Tuesday for the meeting the following Thursday (48 hrs later)
need to submit a late apology due to changed circumstance.
Fail to show up after indicating they would be present.
The members owing a fee of $20 will notified by the Club Secretary and Club Treasurer via an emailed
Late apology fee notice.
The fee can be paid by direct credit into the RCTE Club account or by adding $20 to the $35 meal fee at the next club meeting
