The “Last” Great debate on Thursday had a memorable outcome. A Draw!! Who would have put money on that!
The topic was That “Teenagers would be bettered suited to surviving a Zombie apocalypse”. The team from St Saviours were ageing the affirmative. PE Gary had us dreaming of sweet success when he introduced the RCTE team by personas. Jeff Martin was Orson Wells, Steve Davis was Clint Eastwood and Gary Campbell said he was “the other guy”. In fairness the quality of the debate and the speakers from our Club and the St Saviours Interact Club were very even so a Draw was an appropriate outcome. It does mean that we have our name of the trophy for a second time in 20 years. Thanks to Gary, Jeff and Steve for a great effort and giving the rest of us some good entertainment.
The Rotary year is fast coming to a close and good news – the RCTE Annual Report is nearing completion!
The Changeover on the 27th needs to have RSVP’s and payments by the end of this coming week. Don’t make Gary and Peter sweat. It will be the last Changeover at Picnic Point with Julie and Kenny in charge. As always it promises to be a good night.
Our annual Community Awards day is on this Thursday. It promises to be a great day with not only four awards being presented but also our first new member (Peter Hardwick) being inducted into the Club in about 2 years.
A fee will apply to any member late with an apology regardless of whether the number attending on the meeting day of the meeting is over, under or equal to what the Club Secretary submitted to the Downs Club. This fee will only apply to meetings at the Downs Club or any other club meeting where attendance numbers have to be stipulated prior to the meeting.
A Club member will be charged a meal fee of $20 if they
fail to submit any apology before 11am on Tuesday for the meeting the following Thursday (48 hrs later)
need to submit a late apology due to changed circumstance.
Fail to show up after indicating they would be present.
The members owing a fee of $20 will notified by the Club Secretary and Club Treasurer via an emailed
Late apology fee notice.
The fee can be paid by direct credit into the RCTE Club account or by adding $20 to the $35 meal fee at the next club meeting
