At last Thursday’s meeting Cameron Ashmore delivered his second instalment of his personal profile and his experiences in the Qld Fire and Rescue Service. He obviously has the right attitude and aptitude to be at the frontline. I am sure I wasn’t the only one thinking that I would have been less than useful if I was placed in the demanding situations Cameron spoke of. Once again we can only be impressed by the breadth of skills and experiences within our membership.
On Tuesday 3rd we had the Joint RCTE Board meeting. The incoming 25-26 RCTE members (who are not away!) joined the current board for a light meal and the June Board meeting. The new plan for a dinner meeting as the first Thursday meeting of each month was warmly welcomed by the Board and according to the results of the phones calls being made by Gary, Peter and Geoff the vast majority of you also agree. I congratulate Gary and Peter for taking this very positive step.
Gary & I also attended the Cluster breakfast meeting last Thursday – most of the local Rotary Club Presidents and their PE’s were present and the goodwill evident in the room is a great indicator for more collaboration in the coming 12 months. It was also one of the last duties for our very own Area Governor, Roger Klaassen. He will step down at the end of the month after 3 years in the role. The in-coming AG will be Wendy Byron from RC Toowoomba Metro.
The “Last” Great debate will be happening this coming Thursday. The topic chosen is about surviving a Zombie apocalypse. Our Team is Jeff Martin, Steve Davis and Gary Campbell. Here’s hoping that we can turn the tables and be recorded on the trophy as the best team on the day.
Our annual Awards day is on the 19th of June. It promises to be a great day with not only four awards being presented but also our first new member induction in about 2 years.
Don’t forget to RSVP to the invitation and pay for the Club Changeover on the 27th of this month.
A fee will apply to any member late with an apology regardless of whether the number attending on the meeting day of the meeting is over, under or equal to what the Club Secretary submitted to the Downs Club. This fee will only apply to meetings at the Downs Club or any other club meeting where attendance numbers have to be stipulated prior to the meeting.
A Club member will be charged a meal fee of $20 if they

need to submit a late apology due to changed circumstance.
Fail to show up after indicating they would be present.
The members owing a fee of $20 will notified by the Club Secretary and Club Treasurer via an emailed
