Welcome to The Rotary Club of Oakville which was sponsored by The Rotary Club of Toronto in 1925.  Local buisness people including Alec Chisholm founded the Club and the Charter Night was May 11th; the presentation was done by then District Governor John Symes.  Over the years The Rotary Club of Oakville has sponsored two additional Rotary Clubs.  Rotary provides an excellent opportunity for local business people and professionals to contribute to the Community in which they live.

Major local projects in which we have been involved are:  Senior Housing (Trafalgar Senior Homes, Rotary Gardens, Oakville Community Homes and Woodside Mews), Easter Seals, D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education), Halton Women's Place, Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital, V.O.N. (Victoria Order of Nurses) Halton, Ian Anderson House, Dreams Take Flight. Camp Enterprise, Kerr Street Ministries, The Salvation Army, Seniors Christmas Tour, Student Exchange, Oakville Youth Centre, Oakville Community Living, Day of Giving.

International projects are also participated in and supported by our Club:  Water for Humanity, Sleeping Children Around the World, Polio Plus, The Lighthouse Project.

Since 1925 The Rotary Club of Oakville has developed a very solid foundation of serving the local community and supporting Rotary International projects worldwide.  The furture looks very positive and incoming Presidents will ensure that new and existing members can focus on supporting the local community in a fun and exciting atmosphere.

In keeping with current trends the Internet will be a vital tool for communicating with the community about current projects and in the hopes of attracting new members who wish to contribute to the town they call home.
