Club Assembly

 

President Mahendra Shah opened the meeting at 6:30 pm.

 

Hart Jansson led the singing of O Canada.

 

Mahendra proposed a toast to the King and Canada.

 

Richard Roberts gave the invocation.

 

Mike Henry reminded everyone of the golf tournament next Monday. Non-golfers are invited to attend dinner only for $70.

Bob Miskelly said that there would be RCO advertising at every hole this year, an idea from the golf tournament held by Halton Women's Place. 

 

A warm welcome was extended to Wayne Snyder! We were all delighted to see Wayne back at our meetings.

 

Rod Craig announced an event of the Oakville Hospital Foundation on October 27.

 

Sidharth Joshi introduced himself as a prospective member and was warmly welcomed by the members.

 

Dinner was served.

 

President Mahendra presented the Club budget. Bank charges have increased but we have a healthy bank balance. Gary Comerford suggested that we should encourage attendance at the International Convention by increasing the funds for attendance by the President-Elect.

 

George Vincent presented the budget for the Charitable Fund. Funds from the RCO Foundation will increase significantly in the coming year. The selection of charities will require careful thought and documentation.

 

George Vincent reported on the Electric Car Lottery which did not experience as much success as last year. The process is sound and we will need to decide on continuation soon.The car that was selected did not have the same appeal as the previous one.

 

President Mahendra announced upcoming meetings and events.

A speaker from the Oakville Foundation will be our speaker on September 25 at the Oakville Gold Club. Let's have a good turnout for that.

October 2 we will have an indigenous speaker.

Mahendra closed the meeting with a toast to Friends and Rotarians around the World.
