George Vincent reported on the Electric Car Lottery and encouraged everyone to help increase ticket sales. See George to get more business cards or lawn signs.
Since Ford has decreased the value of the car the winner will get an additional $11,600
along with the car. We will have a display at the car show at Oakville Place on the weekend.

Ralf Soeder thanked all the people who led the pods for the year. He encouraged members to volunteer when it is your pod's turn.

John Doherty told us about the school for deaf students that they have started in San Miguel. He thanked the club for the support our club has given to this international project that has now received two global grants. The school was opened in 2012. Students from primary grades to high school attend. Job skills are taught and extracurricular clubs such as choir and chess are offered.

New Member Talks:

David Hoyle was born in Oakville and has lived here his whole life, now running a family owned roofing business. His father had been a Rotarian and David was always impressed by what the Rotary Clubs did. He is glad to follow in his father's footsteps by becoming a Rotarian and giving back to the community.
David said that although he is big and tall he is short on words!
Welcome David!

Peter Chada was introduced to Rotary by George Farrow when he was doing some work for George. His mentor Rod Craig is also helping him to learn about our Rotary club.
Peter was born in Warsaw in 1970 when it was still under communist rule. He very much appreciates Canada where he came when he was 13. The family arrived by ship to Montreal where many of the crew defected! He attended high school in Toronto and then the University of Toronto for computer engineering applied to medicine.
After a visit to Cuba he became interested in Cuban dance. After returning home he joined
a dance club where he met his wife who was from Peru.
She encouraged his entrepreneurial skills and abilities where he has had a career in many professions from computer engineer to landlord to home renovations where he met George. Peter likes the positive attitude and sense of humour expressed by Rotarians as they contribute to the community and the world.
"Canada has been good to me" he says and now looks forward to giving back.
Welcome Peter!

Mike Henry collected the money and reminded us of the upcoming Golf tournament at Pipers Heath on September 18.
Sponsors and prizes are still needed.

President Amin closed the meeting at 8pm with a toast to Friends and Rotarians around the World.

There's never been a more magical time to join the Rotary Club of Kingsbridge on April 25.

As you all are aware, we recently partnered with the Music School of Children with disabilities to spread the love of music.

This school serves 20 students with various disabilities. Our very own talented musician and fellow member, George Brown, has been working with these students for their very first performance, hosted by our club at the Community Center on April 25 at 7:00pm.

Join us for this very special performance. All proceeds will be donated back to the school to help purchase new instruments.
