RCO Bulletin July 18, 2022 
 
The meeting was in-person at the Oakville Golf Club and was opened at 6:30 PM by President Amin Anwar with a toast to the Queen and Canada. There were 16 Rotary member and 16 guests in attendance, likely a record for our club!  The guests are listed below:

Michael Bissauge, as Sergeant-at-Arms, invoked the practice of Happy Bucks. There were so many Happy Bucks from the members, drunk with delirium at being able to once again meet face-to-face, that there was no need to levy fines.
 
George Vincent advised the meeting that the Rotary Electric Car Lottery still has some way to go to meet our target for the electric vehicle car lottery. The draw date is on August 17, 2022. George brought several advertising signs that can be placed at businesses and more business card notice on how to purchase tickets online. Every member is asked to re-contact their relatives, friends and other acquaintances that are in Ontario and ask them to purchase tickets and to share in turn with their Ontario contacts. A much deserved award for Service to Youth from Rotary International was presented to Jean Wettlaufer by Past District Governor, Rudy Habesch.
 
Mike Henry reminded everyone of the Annual Rotary Club Golf Tournament at Piper Heath Golf Club on September 19, 2022. Players and sponsors are still being sought. More details for registration and sponsoring can be found at
 
Sundeep Khosla introduced the guest speaker, Rahul Singh, who is an Executive Director on the Board of Directors of GlobalMedic, a registered Canadian charity that has provided disaster relief and life-saving humanitarian aid since 2002.  Web site: https://globalmedic.ca/. Rahul founded the David McAntony Gibson Foundation (DMGF) in 1998 to honour the memory of his best friend and now operates as GlobalMedic. He has personally led over 30 GlobalMedic missions around the world and in 2009, Rahul Singh received Canada’s Top 40 Under 40 award from Caldwell Partners and in 2010 was named as one of Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People in the World. In 2012, he was invested as an officer of the Order of Ontario.  
 
Rahul advised of the growing gap between funding and needs and GlobalMedic leverages local and international supply chains and uses best practices to lower the unit costs for aid packages being delivered to war torn or disaster areas.  Rahul spoke of the logistics and dangers of receiving and delivery aid packages to Ukraine. 
 
Sundeep is seeking to start a Rotary Club program whereby on a regular basis, two Rotary members from each MOB Cluster club will visit GlobalMedic to help package food/ medical supplies destined for Ukraine. The first date for the program is Wednesday August 3, and there will be an orientation session on this date. The location is 1494 Wallace Road, Oakville, ON. L6L 2Y2. Parking is free and in abundance. Entrance to the warehouse is through the back door. Basically, Third Line and Speers.
