Ø  George H.P.H. introduced our speaker

-        Dr. Ivanco who spoke to us on the benefits of Nuclear Energy.

-        Mike described the diversity of generation of energy in Ontario with water power, coal, natural gas, wind and solar.

-        Nuclear generation is the base for generation of electricity in Ontario with coal, gas, and wind to support as required.

-        The use of coal has been reduced to about 2 to 3% of Supply

-        The Canadian “Candu” generators are safest in the world and the waste generated less radiation than the Radar gas generated naturally in most basements. There is little waste from this system.

Ø  John S. thanked Mike for making a complicated issue very easy to understand and indicated the biggest problem is the misunderstanding of nuclear generation. There have been no radiation deaths in Canada after 50 years of operation of the “Candu Nuclear Generation”.

Ø  John S. won the 50/50 draw (for his participation in this meeting).

Ø  Rudy closed the meeting with the toast to Rotarians around the world.
