Annual Tree Planting event sponsored by the Rotary Club of Oakville

On a partly sunny, chilly and windy Saturday morning a week ago a respectable crowd of app. 40 people gathered at Perkins Passage in Oakville for our annual tree planting event. Amongst them were 8 Rotarians, 8 Rotaractors and 24 Interactors….quite an impressive head count !

Leading us, teaching us, organizers were a  group of 4 staff   from Oakville Parks and Open Spaces

and 3 from  Oakville Green (a non-proft local environment organization) (http://oakvillegreen.org/)

under the guidance of

Curtis Marcoux
Forest Ecologist

Thank you, Curtis, to you and your associates ! And, of course, thank you for the photos !

Ready for action !

You can't start early enough to become a Canadian forester....

Caring for the environment means not just talking but doing !!

The next generation will be happy.. about Oakville being kept green...

The original goal was to plant 200 trees, but with the unexpectedly high turn out, particularly of young people, we
ended up planting 320 trees ! A job well done !   Thank you to all !

A special credit is owed to our own Judy Warrington, who as so often was the driving force behind this project and, as you would expect, in the center of the action. Thank you, Judy !
