al) Invitation Details: Date: 29th June 2020 Time: 6.45pm (ET) Zoom Link:
https://rotary7080.zoom.us/j/99037038240   Speaker: Tye Farrow Farrow Par
tners Inc Architects What causes health: where we live\, work\, learn and
play? With Covid-19\, we have seen our hospitals and healthcare frontline
workers do remarkable things to keep us safe under very stressed conditio
ns. We know that it is up to each of us on how fast and far the virus will
spread. But we also know that our healthcare system cannot by itself deal
with the other main health issues of our time. Chronic disease\, obesity\
, loneliness\, stress and diseases linked to poverty\, accounts for 75% of
the annual healthcare system spending in the United States. Health – or
disease – is created in our communities\, while hospitals are there to
react – and repair. Rotary has been responsible for eradicating 99.9% of
polio globally since it began its mission in 1979 in the Philippines. Wha
t if Rotary committed itself to eradicating hospitals – as they presentl
y exist – beyond the needs of episodic health events and health repairs?
What would we need to do to not only prevent disease\, but also to create
health in our societies\; physical\, social\, civic and economic health?
How would we design our homes\, offices\, schools and cities to create the
conditions where we can thrive - not just cope? This talk will define wha
t health and wellness is\; look at how our built environments can accelera
 te environmental\, physical\, societal – and importantly - mind health t
hrough new research in neuroscience as applied to architecture and the bui
lt environment. And finally\, it will offer a way forward on how to create
‘enriched environments’ - that cause health. Tye S. Farrow\, FRAIC\,
