However\, there is a lack of locally availab le opportunities for young adults to gain the relevant skills and experien ces. The Water First Drinking Water Internship Program directly addresses this by supporting young Indigenous adults to become certified water treat ment plant operators. The Internship is welcomed by Indigenous communities that view training and skill development as a key part of the solution to drinking water challenges. This approach ensures sustainable access to sa fe drinking water in Indigenous communities for the long term. Water First is a registered Canadian charity that works alongside Indigenous communit ies to address water challenges through education\, training and meaningfu l collaboration. Since 2009\, Water First has collaborated with more than 80 Indigenous communities located in the lands now known as Canada while s upporting Indigenous youth and young adults to pursue careers in water sci ence.  Ami Gopal has over 22 years experience and a proven track record i n fundraising\, resource development and marketing. Since joining the Wate r First in 2017\, she has worked with many Rotary Clubs across Ontario.
