On Tuesday morning, February 11, Redcliffe State High School proudly held its Class of 2025 Student Investiture Ceremony, marking an important milestone in the school’s journey of leadership and community engagement.
The event was attended by parents, family members, teachers, and students from grades 11 and 12, all gathered in the Assembly Hall to encourage those stepping into leadership roles.
Sophie Arnold, Head of Year 10, welcomed the assemblage and the talented Jiana Puddle led the singing of the National Anthem.
Among the notable guests were Barbara Wiggett of the Parents & Citizens Association, a representative of the Samoan and Maori Association, and Rotarians Paul Harcombe and Peter Row, whose support and involvement of youth in the community is recognised.
Principal Mr. Barry Wallet delivered the keynote address, reminding everyone of the importance of leadership, responsibility, and service to others.
This year’s leadership team was officially recognized with the presentation of certificates and badges. Senior School Captains, First Nations Leaders, Music Captains, Sports Captains, House Captains, and Junior Leaders were acknowledged for their commitment and encouraged to guide their peers and foster a vibrant school culture.
Particular recognition was given to the school Rotary Interact club coordinated by Mark Grosert, Head of Year 10 and a Paul Harris fellow.
President of the local Rotary club—Rotary Redcliffe Sunrise—Paul Harcombe assisted by Peter Row (RSHS Youth Liaison) presented certificates and badges to the new executive team.
These students—Alexander Hancock, Emily Bryan, Lauren Zillman, Amiee Ito, Jade Kilfoy, and Olivia Hancock—are ready to make their mark and continue the traditions of service and leadership within the school and broader community.
Alex Hancock was officially welcomed as the incoming School Interact Club President, with Lucy Mather passing on the President’s Chain of Office, a symbol of the responsibility he now carries.
A poem was read and the ceremony concluded with the collective affirmation of the school pledge by all students present.
A beautiful rendition of ‘Rise Up’ was sung by Jiana Puddle, which added an uplifting note to a memorable morning.
Each one of these students has the potential to shape the future, to inspire others, and to create a positive difference in their school, their community, and beyond.
