Jill Sheldon, Energy Manager, Genesee County Energy Consortium (GCEC) shared tips on how we can realize energy savings at work and at home.  Jill noted that energy is the world's largest industry ($5 trillion per year). She continued by stating that in 1980 the average household had 5 consumer electronic devices and today the average household has 25.

Jill's position with the Genesee County Energy Consortium is to help 8 school districts (Atherton, Beecher, Bendle, Bentley, Genesee, Lake Fenton, Westwood Heights and the Genesee Intermediate School District) save money on their energy costs.  The number one priority of the GCEC is to provide a comfortable learning and work environment.  Since its inception in 2009, the GCEC has realized energy savings of $960,000.  Jill credits the utilization of a "people based management program" (where everyone is conscious of energy conservation and their active involvement) to the success of the program to date.
