Missoula Sunrise Rotary was chartered in 1989 by members of the Missoula Rotary Club.

Missoula Sunrise Rotary is a service club dedicated to supporting the mission of Rotary International by creating a fellowship of local business and professional people who are committed to improving the Missoula community, the State of Montana and the world in which we live.

Rotarians believe that worldwide fellowship and international peace can be achieved when business and professional people unite under the banner of service, which will help make our community, our country and the world a better place in which to live.

Past achievements include:

  • Camp Mak-A-Dream Ropes Course - Missoula Sunrise Rotary built a highly advanced ropes course at Camp Mak-A-Dream, a cost-free camp for children with cancer.

  • Books for Malawi - In the fall of 1998, The Missoula Sunrise Rotary Club began an international project sending books to a secondary school located near the village of Chintheche, Malawi in southeast Africa. To date, the school was able to increase the number of books in the library to nearly 10,000 books.

  • RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Award) - We have given scholarships to the RYLA camp for several years.

Current Activities include:

  • Missoula Youth Homes - In 1997 Missoula Sunrise Rotary began a relationship with the Francetich Children's Home of Missoula Youth Homes, a facility for children who have been removed from their natural homes. Sunrise Rotary has taken the kids skiing, mountain biking, had them for breakfast several times and have supplied the kids with computers and bikes. Tickets to University of Montana football and basketball games have also been contributed to the Francetich children. This is a program we are very proud of and continue to give our full support.

  • Missoula Youth Symphony - In 2001 Missoula Sunrise sponsored the Missoula Youth Symphony program. This program provides transportation and covers administrative costs to send area 4th graders to a Missoula Symphony Concert.

  • Other - Missoula Sunrise Rotary also supports: First Night Missoula, Mountain Home Montana, Missoula Cultural Council, Intermountain Children's Home, UM Excellence Fund, Missoula Writing Collabrative, American Legion Auxilliary Girls State and more.
In the coming year we will be expanding our service to the Missoula Community through a vocational program where Rotarians speak about their professions in our area schools, extensive fund raising for the eradication of polio, and more.
