RAIN OR SHINE - please come out and join us at the 13th Annual Cinco de Mayo Chihuahua Races being held on the lawn between Fat Turtle and Grande Cru at YHG from 2PM to 11PM, on Thursday, May 5.

  • We definitely still need some volunteers to work the booth selling tshirts, sombreros, and bottle water from 2PM to 11PM.
  • I'm being told we have Rotaractors that are going to come out and the intention is to have them walk the property selling our raffle tickets during the peak hours of 4PM to 7PM; however, if we need a volunteer to do this, I'll pluck you out of the crowd!!
  • Races will start promptly at 630PM - we intend for them to be concluded by 8PM and PCD's band WHY NOT will play from 8PM to 11PM.

We have some some new attractions designed to 'draw an even bigger crowd' this year that include the following:

  • Links will be there selling their gourmet sausages
  • A DJ will play from 4PM to 8PM and will assist Alan from THE BUZZ 104.3 with race related announcements.
  • A Puppy Pit Stop on the lawn between Grande Cru and Fresh will feature pet related services including an adoption event for the Humane Society and will give the races a place to rest and recharge - there will be water bowls and poop bags aplenty in this area.
  • Rotary information booth - Erick Ackerson has graciously accepted the role of ambassador and will be available to discuss club membership to any of the Rotary clubs on island with anyone that expresses an interest.  He will be in a Rotary branded booth and will also be selling dining out books and 50/50 raffle tickets.  I'm sure he would enjoy some company - please feel free to stop by to lend a hand or just to say hey.

ONE MORE THING - for our FaceBookers - if you see a post related to the chihuahua races PLEASE share.  The more you share the posts, the more opportunity there is for others to see it.  FaceBook is the most amazing 'free' advertising that the club gets.  Please help us spread the word about this family, fun filled, pet friendly event that is Rotary East's signature and has been thrown for the past 13 consecutive years for an amazing project that funds the backpacks filled with school supplies that we distribute to each first grader in a public school.
