Juneteenth in Canada and Building Inclusive Communities

Continuing our exploration of Black History we have two speakers scheduled for our June 12 meeting.  Colleen James, Regional Councillor for the city of Kitchener, will speak on "Juneteenth and Its connection to Canada and Black Brilliance that has existed here for 400+ years'.  Ayo Owodunni, City of Kitchener Councillor for Ward 5, will address the topic of Building Inclusive Communities".

Betty Ann Keller from the Waterloo Museum will also be with us to do a Q&A as a follow up to our visit to the museum to view the Rock This Town exhibit.

Our meeting will be held at the Charcoal Restaurant.  We will have a fully private room with lunch served at a cost of $32.00 with tax and gratuity included which is to be paid in advance as part of registering for the event.  Doors open at 11:30 and lunch will be served at 12:00 noon.  

Lunch includes coffee or tea as well as one of the following main entrée options.  Indicate your meal selection and any dietary restrictions in the comment box on the registration confirmation screen.

CHARCOAL BURGER fresh ground beef, smoked bacon, Monterey jack cheese, dill pickle, tomato, shredded lettuce, roasted garlic aioli, butter toasted sesame cheese bun, served with fries.

CHICKEN CAESAR SALAD grilled marinated chicken breast, romaine, radicchio, bacon, grana padano, croutons, house Caesar dressing.

SHRIMP PAD THAI shrimp, stir-fried vegetables, tossed egg, bean sprouts, spiced peanuts, rice noodles, scallions, cilantro, sweet + sour peanut sauce.

REBEL BURGER (VEGETARIAN) plant-based black bean patty, mozza cheez, roasted sweet pepper, shredded lettuce, sliced tomatoes, alfalfa sprouts, habanero lime aioli, toasted artisan bun, served with fries.
