 Buy-A-Kid-A-Book

Our annual Buy-A-Kid-A-Book starts February 4th and rotates between Fosters Strand and ALT's, with five Saturday collections over the month. Contact Pauline to sign up for your scheduled time. We raised over $2000 last year, and hope to do the same or better this year. Proceeds will go to purchase books for public schools in need.

Fundraising

Our Audi is in transit! We hope to have it by mid February. Meanwhile, online ticket sales will be coming soon, and venues to sale tickets will be announced soon as well.
We've had good news from the Minister of Finance who has granted us a 95% stamp duty waiver.
Presently second prize will be airline tickets from Delta; third prize t.b.a.
Casino Night is still on the menu. Plans to be announced.

Fellowship

Friday, 27th January is our next Happy Hour, which will be at Royal Palms, from 5:30 to 7:30. The club will provide nibbles and there will be a cash bar. Y'all come and enjoy the fellowship, and bring your significant other. After all, how often do we get free food in a fine setting?

Membership

Our club membership continues to increase. We now have 71 members, and our next orientation night for our new red-badgers will be at the end of February at P.P. Christine's place.

     Youth

Our Earlyact group at Georgetown Primary School is a lively, enthusiastic group whose members have increased this year. They meet Wednesday from 12:15 - 12:45 January 25th (today).
They have a cupcake sale planned for February 18th, location to be announced. A month later they plan to host a car wash at Burger King. Funds raised will go to Feed our Future. They are looking out for their fellow students who cannot afford breakfast.

International

With other charities pulling their support for Guaruma, our club becomes its sole supporter, and much of International's budget, $10,000, is being spent to keep the project alive. Director Pat is hoping to get an Inter-American grant from the U.S. and Bob Ketron's club in the U.S. is looking into helping as well. In the meantime, we are supporting the co-ordinator of the program with her monthly stipend of $230 USD per month in order to keep the project running. Teaching the youth and keeping them in school for half days, five days a week for a cost of $100 a month, has resulted in keeping youth in the community and away from the drug cartels. So far income in Guaruma has come from a small internet cafe and some eco-tourism tours.

Other International projects are centered in South Africa, Malawai, Thailand and Philippians.

Early Act
Please join us for the next EarlyAct meeting at George Town Primary, 26th January from 12:15pm to 12:45pm.  Come find out what our kids have planned for the balance of this year!

On Saturday January 28th Directors Jerrell and Anthony are sponsoring a community-youth event in West Bay. Help our club connect with the youth at Scholars Park. Come and help, or just come and join in the fun.

Zone 34 is holding a video promotion to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Rotary Foundation. They would like stories about when Rotary became real to us, or we became true Rotarians. Grab your phone/tablet or even video camera and tell them about that special time in 60 secs. They will put the best Zone videos together as a 100 minute sequence, and hopefully it will be shown in Atlanta. Contact Faye Lippitt or Hazel Brown with your ideas.
