Leadership of Rotary District 7020, the Disaster Network of Assistance Action Group and neighbouring Rotary Districts in Zone 33-34 have issued the following information for those able to render financial assistance who seek an avenue for where 100% of proceeds will go to needs of the impacted areas and they can be assured of proper accounting of spending. Our experience during the storms of 2017 will serve us well through our network of Rotarians.
Funds currently are what is needed and have a bettered immediate impact on the ground. The need is great. I appreciate your consideration of this appeal and express that no donation is too small and any donation is greatly appreciated.

Donations to assist with recovery efforts in all territories affected may also be donated through DAF #574 via online giving at Rotary International (see photo in this post for details on how to donate through this mechanism).

As a club that loves literacy, lets share books we should try:
Editor gets first pick, you pick the next one; go on send us a email.

It's not a motivational book. But if you aren't motivated to do something after reading it. I'd be surprised.

In case you missed last week...

Rotarian Steve went for a swim

From Rot. Stephen Sokohl: On 1 January 2020, I participated in the Polar Bear Plunge in Coney Island, New York.

It was a blast and I freezed my proverbial tuchus off (as they say in yiddish).

I've posted pictures on my Facebook page so you can have a look!

To date, I have raised $10,000 (US$8,000 collected and US$2,000 pledged) towards our goal thanks to your generous support and participation.

20% of the funds were used to buy Christmas gifts for the children at the Frances Bodden Children’s Home and the Bonaventure Boys Home and 80% to help complete construction of a medical clinic Las Mangas, La Ceiba, Honduras.

Please keep the support coming via the link below or you can make a check payable directly to Rotary Sunrise!!!

Help Build A Clinic in Honduras

For over ten years Rotary Sunrise has been supporting the community of the Cangrejal Valley, Honduras, and in particular a project called Guaruma. The Guaruma Project aims to teach children vocational skills with a view to keeping children in their home communities rather than leaving for the city.

Children learn how to use computers, use of the internet, photography, and tourism skills. Many take these skills and become employed in their community.

Some have gone on to further education, and two have become qualified as Medical Doctors. Returning home to their community, Drs Melvin Pacheo and Ana Juarez have started delivering healthcare in the valley.

Please consider helping to build the clinic. You can sponsor a brick for just US$25. Donors giving at least US$250 will be honoured with a plaque on the building. Our website www.clinicbricks.com will tell you more and is available now for donations, of any amount.
