Long lasting friendships are created when you share common interests with others. Finding out if you have common interests comes from increased interactions through club meetings, socials and service projects. That is great when it comes to local events but what about broadening your fellowship with others across the world? How can we easily accomplish that? Well there is always attendance at District and International Conventions but that only happens once per year. Check our the Rotary Fellowships online through Rotary.org. Through the RI website and your membership access, you have the opportunity to increase your circle of friends by participating in fellowship groups where you share a common interest. Fellowship Groups and related discussion topics are growing among members. If you are not apart of one of these fellowship groups then you are not getting the most out of your club membership.

 

Browse through the many Fellowship Groups or search the discussion topics to find a group that appeals to you. Fellowship Groups are worldwide and growing daily based on membership interests. Here are just a small sample of official Fellowship Groups:

Take part in any of the Fellowship Group discussion topics that interest you. Some groups are only accessible by invite only so all you need to do is request to join the group.

Find a group of Rotarians that have similar interests to you and discover new friendships in the process. You are bound to find a few Rotarians who have similar interests among the 1.2 Million members worldwide.

 

 

 

If you have not completed your registration for the 2015 District 7020 Conference taking place from May 12-16, 2015 please make sure you do it soon. There are about approximately 76 Rotarians from the 3 Grand Cayman clubs who indicated an interest to attend the 2015 Conference. Conference early bird pricing will change in October and Half Moon Bay space reservations will need to be released if booking don't happen soon.

 

Members should take advantage of this opportunity to fellowship and network with so many local Rotarians as well as Rotarians from within the District. Who knows what future business, personal or service opportunity will come from this 5 day event.

 

The cost of the District 7020 Assembly & Conference is - US$170.00. The Cayman Islands remembers Hurricane Ivan on its 10th Anniversary. Ivan passed south of Grand Cayman on September 12th 2004. Those of us who lived through the experience can tell stories of how things were before and what they went through after. The progress of where we are as an island now, 10 years later is amazing and, is a true testament to the dedicated spirit and people of these islands. 

 

There will be a section in the Friday, September 12th issue of the Cayman Compass highlighting Rotary. It is being sponsored by Rotary Grand Cayman Central and highlights not only their projects but, also features the joint Rotary club activities following on from Hurricane Ivan.

 

 
Rotary Sunrise has been specifically invited by Mr. Simon Boxall, Awareness and Communications Officer, to attend this event at the Westin Hotel. The event features international speakers including the Director of the National Hurricane Center (NOAA) and the head of the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA).

Having received lots of positive feedback from the club meeting where members and guests had the opportunity to design art on brown paper bags in support of the Rotaract Grand Cayman club's Brown Paper Bag Lunch Programme, we will be having another "crafty" meeting in the future. However, this craft requires approximately 80 corks… so we are asking members to save their corks from bottles of wine or bubbly to use in this art activity. As you collect them please give them to Secretary Gina. Once we have collected enough corks for the craft, a meeting will be scheduled to include the activity.
