Our Rotary Business
This is what's happening in our Rotary lives in the coming month and year.
Youth
Earlyact starts this Friday Sep 30th.Come join us at Georgetown Primary noon to 12:45
International
The committee has their eye on sponsoring a school in the Philippians
Literacy
This year our club will once again donate to stock our Public School Libraries. Their committee will meet to decide how to distribute the $10,000 funding allotted from their budget for this.
Both our annual Butterfly Storybook competition and Inter-school Debates will be shared with Rotary Central this year. Future dates to be determined.
Fundraising
This Rotary year we can expect a Casino and Car Raffle, as well as a wine tasting with a Halloween theme, tenative date so far is October 15th.
Disaster Relief
Rotarians Chris Bowring and Barbara Anley are our Disaster Relief people and they have compiled a summary of contributions the club and external contributions have made over the past years (in U.S. dollars).
Hurrican Ivan: $1,214,052.64
Hurricane Paloma: $138,392.56
Haiti Earthquake: $129,700.47
Phillippines Typhoon: $16,219.51
Each year all three Rotary Clubs contribute $5000 KYD to this relief fund, and presently there is $163,828.73 U.S. in the fund. It has been decided that rather than leave it in the bank, funds will go into a Star Trust. Past Rotarian Paul Drake and Rotarian James Melen have offered to oversea the trust for us.

Happy September!
As we enter the end of the first quarter of our Foundation’s centennial year, Rotarians and friends of Rotary around the world have contributed over $14 million to the Annual Fund, and, over $25 million towards our $300 million cumulative fundraising goal.
