Ordering Breakfast on Wednesday?
Due to the GT Yacht Club now open to the public for breakfast, Club Members are being asked to place their breakfast orders with the wait staff at the register by the coffee station. This will not only speed the ordering process but you will receive your meal faster. In addition, if the water jug at your table needs a refill, kindly have someone bring it to the coffee station for a top up.

We need all Rotary Sunrise members to use the following checklist to help ensure the fundraising event of Casino Night is a huge success.
Sold at least 4 Casino tickets
Bring payment of sold tickets on Wednesday, Feb 26 for PE Kim
Unsold tickets are not an option this year so you have until Friday, Feb 28 to hand over payment for the sold tickets to PE Kim (but no one will be in this situation as all will be sold)
Bring at least 1 prize that you have solicited from a local business or donated for Casino Night Silent Auction on Wednesday, Feb 26 for Rotarian Joanne
Volunteer to help at Casino Night to be a Dealer, Setup/Tear down or volunteer during the event with roles that need filling
If you are able to say "CHECK" to all the points above then we will be in great shape for a fantastic Casino Night Fundraising event. Thank you for doing your best to help support the club with our fundraising efforts.

I won't be dealing at this year's Casino Night.
Instead, I'll be sitting outside the Marriott Ballroom at a table.
It's my hope that the people heading into the extraordinary venue that PE Kim is masterfully whipping into shape will pause--just for a few minutes--to contribute to PolioPlus.
So that they will be part of making history.
So that they will be able to tell their grandchildren that they helped to eradicate Polio from the face of the earth.
So that the spectre of a child's horribly twisted limbs will never be a nightmare faced by any parent anywhere in the world.
So please stop by. I'll be taking photos that will be uploaded to EndPolioNow.org.
You'll join the ranks of Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Itzhak Perlman, Psy, Archie Panjabi, Ziggy Marley, and Angelique Kidjo who have all very famously flashed the "This Close" hand gesture in ads promoting Rotary's effort to "End Polio Now."
I'll have purple lapel flowers available for a suggested contribution of $10. The purple crocus represents the purple dye painted on the fingers of children who have been immunized against polio.
It's a way to signal your solidarity with the fact that Saturday will be a fun event, but it is also a FUNdraising event for the good causes Rotary Sunrise supports.

Speaker's Corner: Rotarian Victor Crumbley & Past President Chris Bowring
Topic: Getting to Know Rotarian's Victor and PP Chris
As active members, you may think you know Rotarian Victor and Past President Chris but do you really know who they are? This week's special guest speaker's are none other then these two Rotarians. Not only will the membership have an opportunity to learn more about these two Rotarians but as a Red Badger, Victor will be able to mark off one of his tasks from the Red Badge list.
From his bio published in the August 28th issue of the Rotary Sun, Victor was born in Tampa, Florida to an American father and a Caymanian mother, Victor Crumbley is an honors graduate of John Gray High School and has a bachelor’s degree in marketing from the University College of the Cayman Islands. Victor owns and operates Dash Strategies Limited, a social marketing company incorporated to address local youth development issues. Dash advises various public and private organisations and interest groups on youth development policies, youth-targeted television and radio media and social marketing initiatives. Dash's best known project is a scholarship and mentorship programme for young men who would not otherwise pursue further education or who are not eligible for traditional scholarship opportunities. The project was initiated while Victor was still a student at UCCI and his efforts were formally recognised by the University College's Board of Governor's Award, the college's most prestigious award.
Victor is a charter member and 2 term past president of the Rotaract Club of Grand Cayman and a past president of the Cayman Islands Students’ Association. Under his leadership, the Rotaract Club of Grand Cayman established its firm foundation in Cayman and across the Caribbean and won the District 7020 Rotaract Club of the Year Award and received Rotary International Presidential Citations.
Victor volunteers with a number of government entities, notably the Youth Services Unit and the National Youth Commission. He is an experienced foster parent, having raised a special needs teenager for over 3 years. Victor is a member of the First Baptist Church of Grand Cayman and a volunteer literacy tutor at John Gray High School. He is a Bill Brooks Memorial Scholarship recipient and was a finalist in the 2013 Young Caymanian Leadership Awards.
For fun Victor enjoys playing basketball and contemplating non-violent methods of re-homing one of his pet dogs who insists on using his beloved Air Jordan sneakers as a chew toy.
And as for Past President Chris, it may be best to gain a little more history to PP Chris' many years with Rotary by watching the Past President interview where PP Chris talks about his year as president through 2004-2005 and what challenges the club had during that year in addition to the successes. Come out to this Wednesday's meeting and support "getting to know" these Rotarians and learn more about these gentlemen that you may not have known.
What is the Red Badge Checklist?
Rotary Sunrise has developed a list of tasks to be completed by newly inducted members as a way to help them get to know other members in the club and become familiar with Rotary protocols. Once all 7 required tasks have been completed the member will receive the club's Blue Badge replacing the Red Badge to symbolize the completion of all tasks.

Montessori By the Sea 6th Annual Golf Tournament

Montessori By the Sea is hosting their 6th Annual Golf Tournament on Friday, April 4th at North Sound Club. Registration begins at 12:30pm and shot gun start for 1pm. March is Rotary International’s Literacy Month and Sunrise’s Literacy Committee has BIG plans! Here are some of the plans we have going on …. PLEASE JOIN US. Submitted by PP/Literacy Director Andrea Bryan
ITS PARTY TIME!!! Thursday, February 27 at Foster’s Food Fair Distribution Centre, starting at 5.30 pm. We’ll be putting stickers in our books for distribution to school children, and we’ll reward ourselves with wine and nibbles when the work is done. COME AND JOIN IN THE FUN!!
Buy A Kid A Book – We’ll be setting up at Foster’s Food Fair at the Strand: March 8, 15, 22 and 29 to collect donations under the Buy A Kid A Book Banner; funds collected will be used to buy books for the school libraries.
Character Development books (All the Joy in the World, authored and illustrated by Nasaria Suckoo-Chollette), which tell a story about the Four-Way-Test will be distributed to Year 3 children in all primary schools.
Reading in Schools – We plan to read the Character Development book and to invite MLAs to do the reading as well.
Reading in Libraries did not have much participation last year and will be discontinued.
Butterfly Storybook Project participants, who recently read their beautiful stories for us at a weekly meeting, will receive their certificates and recognition from District 7020 e-Club.
Cayman 27 Daybreak. Past Presidents Woody and Winston are confirmed for March 3 to talk about Rotary Sunrise’s literacy projects.
Radio Cayman’s Talk Today. PP/Director Andrea and Su Mander from LIFE are confirmed for March 3 to speak on Sunrise and LIFE projects respectively.
Read-Aloud-Athon. LIFE, assisted by Sunrise Rotarians and other volunteers, will be reading aloud for children at the Agriculture Show March 5. Look for the flyer in The Rotary Sun.
Interschool Debates. These will continue during the month.
Articles for the Rotary Sun – Butterfly Storybook Project and other relevant stories will
be featured throughout the month.
Press Releases and Photos. These will be prepared for all events.
Bookstore Discounts – Books and Books were asked to do this (awaiting confirmation from store)
District 7020 Club of the Month. March is the final month this Rotary year for Club of the Month and your Literacy Committee aims to make a great submission.
Rotaract Blue Fish Fry - Friday, February 28

It's that time of year!! Get ready for our annual Fish Fry which is held to raise funds for our Fred Speirs Vocational Grant.
Rotaract Blue understands the value of Vocational development in the Cayman Islands and takes action to create opportunities for young Caymanians to have access to the necessary training and education. Our Vocational Grant is heading into it’s 5th Year of providing Young professionals of the Cayman Islands with the opportunity to further their studies home or abroad. The Fred Speirs Vocational Grant is for eligible applicants, between 16 and 30 years of age, who are enrolled or have been accepted into a local or overseas vocational/ technical skills course, above and supplemental to high school.
So note it in your calendar and tell your family and friends!
