Sunrise Donates to Stingray Club
contributor Jackie Golding-McDonald
Co-Director of Community Service Jacqueline Golding-McDonald presented a cheque to the Stingray Swim Club (SSC) for $550 to aide in the development of a Bucket System. This System will add to the development of the various swim programs at SSC. SSC was established in 1996 and has the most extensive membership of any swim club and supports both the Government Learn to Swim, the High School Development Group and the Special Olympic Team swimmers (Lighthouse School Students) as well as granting discretionary memberships to those that are unable to afford to contribute to the membership fees.
Through Rain and Flood
Sunrise Brings Christmas Cheer
Christmas parties were delayed this past weekend when the island was flooded by a system that lingered (lingers) over the island. Touques (look it up) and jackets were pulled out and pulled on for those folks south of the 40th parallel not accustomed to the chill. Even Houston got snow. The island was spared the freeze but sure got the breeze and the rain. The parks were flooded, but eight of our brave souls still turned up to dish out good cheer at Scranton and Windsor Park for those who attended. And of course, Santa was there to cheer everyone.
This Saturday 16th it will be North Side's turn to receive our Christmas cheer.
Our Debaters
Our debaters arrived in fine-form last week to in-form the club about their trip to Ottawa,Canada where they attended a week-long summer Debate Camp. Our club shared sponsorship with Rotary Central and BritCay for the four debaters.
Dining In Gut Style
On Thursday Rotarian Irene Gut's company, Gut Manners had a workout with our little Earlyactors at Georgetown Primary School. The intent was to teach
dining etiquette at their Thanksgiving lunch. It was an experience quite enjoyed by all.
Merry Christmas All
Our final meeting of 2017 will be our Christmas Party at Hendrik's home. Pot Luck.
Next meeting will be January 3rd, 2018.
