Ordering Breakfast on Wednesday?
Due to the GT Yacht Club now open to the public for breakfast, Club Members are being asked to place their breakfast orders with the wait staff at the register by the coffee station. This will not only speed the ordering process but you will receive your meal faster. In addition, if the water jug at your table needs a refill, kindly have someone bring it to the coffee station for a top up.

3rd Annual BedRace for Polio Eradication

Even though mother nature showered down on the race, our Sunrise team still managed to make it into the top 3 teams. It was good fun and thanks to all those were a part of the event. The profit from the event is still being counted but it looks to be in the range of $5,000 to be shared among the 3 clubs.
Special thanks to our "not so serious athletes" who averaged in age of 50+ and gave some of the other "younger" team a run for their money.

I'm Pleased to Announce...

March 15th was the last day for our club to qualify for two Rotary International Awards. And I'm pleased to announce that we did indeed do so!
Past District Governor Carlos H. Giraldo is the RI Zone 34 Rotary Public Image Coordinator. On Friday, he sent the following message: Dear President J.D.,
Congratulations to you and the Rotary Club of Grand Cayman Sunrise (D7020) for achieving the recognition of being a recipient of the 2013-14 Public Image Citation. Citations will be mailed immediately after April 15. DG Jeremy Hurst then sent his congratulations to our club. I personally hope you'll join me in congratulating Communication Director Gina for her hard work on the newsletter, website, and press releases. Also, please extend your congratulations to Rotarian Martha Connolly for keeping the Club's Facebook page fresh and informative.
The second award our club qualified for is the Rotary Club Central award from RI President Ron D. Burton. Here's what he said about it: By logging in to My Rotary and clicking on My Club Snapshot, any club member can see how many Rotary Club Central goals the club has already set. Every club that sets at least 15 goals or more in Rotary Club Central by 15 March 2014 will receive an award.
Well, Rotary Sunrise had its goals posted back in July 2013, long before President Ron attached an award to doing so. In fact, our Sunrise club has 27 numbered service projects and activities listed in Rotary Club Central.
You can take a look at Sunrise's progress toward achieving all of our goals. Just go to www.rotary.org and click on the "My Rotary" link at the very top of the home page. After you login, scroll down the page until you find a box on the left that says "My Club Snapshot" where you'll see all kinds of information about or club goals, our service goals, and our Foundation giving goals. Click the "View Goals" box for more details.
At next month's District 7020 Conference in the Westin ballroom, you'll have an opportunity to be recipients of the recognition our club deserves for all the hard work we've to "Engage Rotary--Change Lives" this year.
So make certain to register for the Conference at www.7020.org because you don't want to miss out on all of the fun that's being planned!
7th Annual Heart Health Fair - Saturday, March 22

What is more important then your health? Possibly helping children to adopt a healthy lifestyle while they are young so they can continue to do so into adulthood. Well, you can help to achieve just that by supporting our efforts at the Heart Health Fair this Saturday at the ARC by Camana Bay from 8am - 2pm. Rotary Sunrise members are stationed at the many fun activity games to help kids get activity by finding fun in a variety of challenges - Burpee Challenge, Hula-Hoop Challenge, Skipping Rope Challenge and lots more
The stations encourage kids of all ages to complete each activity to the best of their ability and have their health passports stamped. The more stamps means better prizes to claim in the end.
Thank you to all Rotarians who have already signed up to make this year's event a success but we still need a few more to oversee the activities. Sign up with Secretary Deirdre or come to Wednesday's meeting and make sure to place your name on the sign-up sheet.

Please join President JD and the Directors of the club as they provide updates on their committee projects and events. With only a few months left in this Rotary year committees are starting to tie up loose ends and ensure budgeted funds are on target.
A portion of this meeting will also look for your feedback in planning for the 2014-2015 year. Your input is important to help shape the future of the club's direction. Come out and share your thoughts.
Wine Tasting Fellowship

What does "Aroma", "Bouquet" and "Body" have in common? These are all terms likely to be used at the Wine Tasting Event being held at The Grand Old House on Saturday, March 29.
The Mighty Luciano will preside and take us through two white wines and two reds and explain them and test our attentiveness. The idea is to do a series of these and include interactive events like blind tastings - build our wine knowledge - Luciano has a programme. Canapes will also be served to complement the wines. We have put the price at CI$30 to make sure we get decent wines.

As you know February was Rotary Awareness month and as a result of earning a third place standing our club will receive extra points towards the District Governor's award.
