The Rotary Grace

O God and giver
of all good,

We thank thee for
our daily food.

May Rotary friends
and Rotary ways,

Help us to serve thee
all our days.
The 4-Way Test

Of the things we
think, say, or do:

Is it the truth?

Is it fair to all concerned?

Will it build goodwill
and better friendships?

Will it be beneficial
to all concerned?
Special Thank You to Rotarian David Reid and Rotarian Mark Macfee for providing printed copies of the weekly newsletter for members and guests to read at the tables.
Please feel free to take a copy with you after the meeting.

Ordering Breakfast on Wednesday?

Due to the GT Yacht Club now open to the public for breakfast, Club Members are being asked to place their breakfast orders with the wait staff at the register by the coffee station. This will not only speed the ordering process but you will receive your meal faster. In addition, if the water jug at your table needs a refill, kindly have someone bring it to the coffee station for a top up.

The management of GTYC thanks you for your assistance

What the Prez Sez...
What is RLI???
Submitted by President J.D. Mosley-Matchett

You really should sign up for the Rotary Leadership Institute that will be held in Grand Cayman on the last weekend of this month.

Why?

Well, if you're relatively new to Rotary, it will help you better understand how our organization operates and how you personally fit into the grand scheme.

If you're a seasoned Rotarian, it will help you recapture the energy and fun that led you to be come a Rotarian. It will also allow you to compare and contrast how other clubs in District 7020 do things, providing fresh ideas and new ways of thinking.

Plus, many clubs at least partially subsidize the cost of RLI. The Sunrise club has always sponsored 50% of the cost for members who enroll.

So, here are the details for the upcoming RLI in Grand Cayman:

When?
Part 1: The Rotarian--April 26th
Light breakfast at 7:30, Introductions begin at 8 a.m., sessions end by 3:15 p.m.

Part 3: The Rotary Journey--April 26th

Graduate--April 27th

'Buy a Kid a Book' Donation Drive Gets Overwhelming Support
Submitted by Literacy Director Andrea

Amazing as it may seem, at a time when many persons in our community are experiencing ‘donor fatigue’, collecting funds on the last four Saturdays in March to buy books for children was ‘a piece of cake’.

With inviting signage and the charming smiles of Sunrise Rotarians and other volunteers, people were enticed to walk right up and drop their money into the boxes without being asked: some apologized for not having more to give; others offered to donate ‘gently used’ children’s books. We happily accepted all.

Project Co-ordinator Pauline McGettigan reported that over KYD2,000 was raised ($2,164.37 to be exact). The Literacy Committee decided, for this collection, to focus our attention on the schools in the eastern districts, buying and donating books for the libraries in North Side and East End primary schools and Clifton Hunter High School in Frank Sound.

Donations of 'All the Joy in the World' to Schools Continues
Submitted by Literacy Director Andrea

The Year 4 children of Sir John A. Cumber Primary School in West Bay were among the latest recipients of our books and they had the added treat of having the books handed out to each one and read by Hon. Tara Rivers, Minister of Education and our very own Past President, MLA and Councillor in the Ministry of Education, Winston Connolly. The smiles on their faces tell it all. Thank you PP Winston!

Prospective member and guest of Rotarian Jocelyn Moss, Susan Fraser, who is an ICT Specialist Teacher for the government primary schools, distributed the books to children at Red Bay Primary on Thursday. Thank you Susan!

Distribution to Year 3 children in private schools commence the first week of April. So far, Cayman International School, Grace Christian Academy and Wesleyan Christian Academy have agreed to receive the books. If you can deliver the books and read to the children at Cayman International School on Thursday, April 3, at 10.30 am please contact me at andrea@rotarysunrise.ky or 326-4192 ( C ).

Speaker's Focus This Week: Mrs. Rachael Windhaber & Mr. Renzo Escalante

Topic: "Getting to Know You" Talks Following Official Induction

It is always wonderful when our club has the the opportunity to induct new members. This Wednesday, we get to do this twice as the official induction of Rachael Windhaber and Renzo Escalante are welcomed into Rotary Sunrise as our newest members. As an added treat, both upcoming members have been asked to prepare to give their "Getting to Know You" talks so other club members can get to know them better.

Please join us on Wednesday, April 2 to help offer a warm Sunrise welcome to Rachael and Renzo.

Recycling on the Brac
Submitted in part by Director Gina

On Friday, March 28th, our very own President JD and accompanying President Kadi, from the Kiwanis Club, educated approximately 250 extremely enthusiastic adults and children on Cayman Brac. The purpose of the Brac visit was to bring Recycling Awareness to the residents thorough our joint club community service initiative - Join In!

The intense day had these 2 ladies with a tight schedule of 5 presentations but they still had a chance to tour the Brac's landfill. Special appreciation is extended to Foster's Food Fair and Kirk Market for donating cloth recycle bags as give-a-ways as adults and children answered questions about recycling.

We welcome and encourage all Cayman Brac residents to "reduce, reuse and recycle"... are you doing your part to help make Cayman a better place?
