 Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZEeuJQfwvFg
 Step Two
Visit the District Website and download the Flyer and Registration Form. Read all the information about registering. MAKE SURE TO COME ON BACK for Step Three!
 Link: http://7020.org/conference-2017.html
 Step Three
This step involves you recognizing the inevitable - That there is no way you want to miss this conference, and you should probably register as soon as possible to secure your cabin! It is also the stage where you realize that this is a great value-for-money Conference to attend, as prices include your room, all food, taxes and fees, and Conference Registration. Only a $200 deposit is required right now to secure your ROOM. (not per person). Several months to pay the balance! (Prices on Flyer are per person based on double occupancy. Rate sheet has more detailed pricing).
 Step Four
This stage is where you think about procrastinating. This is why you probably missed Bahamas or ended up paying last minute prices! Then you remember that action is the key to success and you fill out the Registration form and email to our travel agent partner STEVE (His information is on the Flyer and Registration Form). These forms must be sent to STEVE for processing.

Meet Karelle
Submitted by Communications

Born in Jamaica, our newest Rotarian Karelle left at age 18 to pursue a Psychology degree in Florida, leaving behind her mother and younger twin brothers. She finished up her degree in Canada, and then moved to the social work field. She has been employed in that capacity now for 12.5 years

As a child she was taught to help others by her parents, and at her church youth group. Giving back has always been a part of who she is. In Canada she became a “Big Sister” and felt good knowing she was helping make a difference in a child’s life. Once in Cayman, she decided to seek out an organization where she could lend her hand and time. For a number of months she kept “bumping” into Rotary online and saw various ads in the public so she reached out and today finds herself a new Rotarian, looking to give back as much as possible. She says that part of the enjoyment of becoming a Rotarian has been meeting amazing people from all different areas of life and work groups.

Karelle loves to decorate, stage homes, listen to music and watch movies. In her own words: “This certainly is a new chapter and I look forward to giving back as much as I can in just about any way that I can.”

Welcome Karelle!

International Service Committee Projects Report

Water Projects:  US$2,100 now been sent toward TRF grant for the San Miguel de Allende, Mexico project ($2,000 toward the actual project and $100 as the admin fee for donating through The Rotary Foundation).  Sunrise will receive recognition in the way of Paul Harris Fellowships for this donation.   US$1,000 has been sent to Zambia for the Butterfly Tree well project there.  US$2,000 has been sent to Safe Water International for the Cambodia latrines to be distributed when Rotarian Larry Siegel (Rotary Club of Miami Brickell) is in Cambodia after the International Convention in Korea.

Malawi Drought Relief: US$2,000 has been sent to Safe Water International toward the Malawi Drought Relief project to provide food to the neediest of communities during the anticipated severe drought this year.

Birthing Kits: US$1,000 will be sent to Midwives For Haiti to provide birthing kits being sent to needy communities in Haiti.

Ecuador Hurricane Relief: US$1,000 has been sent to the Rotary Club of Guayaquil for earthquake relief.

Kiva: There are still funds to be disbursed in the Kiva “pot” however Wendy Koll will be handling that project and she is away for a couple more weeks.

Guaruma:  Jimmy Andino is away until the end of April – at that time we will be requesting a report on how the US$5,000 in District Grant funds was spent.  It was agreed to carry over the US$2,800 remaining in ISC budget for Guaruma until next year.  We have not requested a wish list from Guaruma this year and they have not expressed any dire needs so since funds may be short next year we thought it prudent to hold onto it.  The weekend of Friday, Sept 16 – Monday, Sept 19 has been suggested to Guaruma as the preferred weekend for our Sunrise medical trip.  Jimmy will get back to us once he confirms those dates with the Guaruma staff.

Guaruma Medical:  Hypothetically we have covered surgeries for the 19 earmarked children – still a couple of pledged donations to trickle in.  Treasurer John has wired enough money from the ISC account to cover all surgeries using a small amount from our reserved ISC budget while we await the final two pledged deposits.  The initial six patients have already had their first screenings with surgeries scheduled for May 5th & 6th.  The plan is to have all surgeries complete before the next Rotary medical trip so Dr. Ecke can reexamine the patients and review their progress.
S$2,000 has been sent to Safe Water International toward the Malawi Drought Relief project to provide food to the neediest of communities during the anticipated severe drought this year.
