Culinary Camp

Camp starts this week for Culinary Camp, and administrator James Myles will be our speaker on Wednesday to give us the highlights.
Rotary Sunrise is sponsoring the camp which has been offered by the Youth Services Unit. Baking 202 will focus on such things as baking bread, cake, and cupcakes, while pastry chef Harif will teach sugar craft and cake decorating for 16 Intermediate Teen Bakers. Our contribution of $1,788.00 will go toward student funding as well as a showcase and participant award presentation.

Save Your Clothes For Guaruma

Once again our Club's International Committee is organising a trip to Guaruma and need your help. Both medical and non-medical personnel will be leaving for the weekend of September 9th, returning the 12th, and this time visiting two towns: Las Mangas and El Pital. They are asking for things that you may have in your home that to parents and children in Honduras, are beyond their ability to purchase. Please have a look at the list and consider donating.

2017 International Convention – Atlanta
Are you going?

The 100th anniversary of the Rotary Foundation

After Seoul, it is on to Atlanta. It is our goal to make this the biggest and the best convention in Rotary International history. That means we have to attract over 45,000 Rotarians. That means we need YOU.

Our offer to you is to register now and save a lot of money. From May 28th through June 6th the registration fee has been reduced to $265. It will climb to $490 as the convention gets closer. You must sign up and pay during this time period to get this rate. In order to sign up starting May 28th, go to www.Rotaryconvention2017.org It will take you to the appropriate Rotary International registration page.

Everyone on the Host Operating Committee is dedicated to making this the best convention ever, and with your support, it will happen!
Contact Secretary Martha for further details if you are interested in attending or what more info before deciding.

Little Atlanta Factoid:
Your editor counted 21 golf courses in the Atlanta area.

Are you a Rotary Couple?

(there's surely a Rotary pin in there somewhere)

ROTARY COUPLES... Keeping Rotary in the family.  Keen eyes have observed that there are quite a few Rotary couples in Rotary District 7020!  Is this a Rotary World Record?  We aim to find out!

Are YOU part of a Rotary Couple?  Who are these Rotarians that live, play and work Rotary TOGETHER?  Let's salute you.

If you are a Rotarian and your partner/spouse is a Rotarian or Rotaractor, we want to hear from you!!!
1. Send us a couple's photo.
2. Send us your names and the names of the clubs to which you belong.
3. Each person must answer the following questions  (a maximum of a 1 sentence answer to each question):
                a. How did you meet?
                b. Why did you join Rotary/Rotaract?
                c. What keeps you in Rotary/Rotaract?
                d. What do you admire most about your spouse's/partner's role in Rotary/Rotaract?

Email information and picture to d7020news@gmail.com with a copy to rotary.dawta@yahoo.com on or before May 29, 2016. Please send the picture as a separate attachment from the information requested.  Don't miss the opportunity to represent the ROTARY COUPLE in Action!

Rotary Pin Pride
A tour through Rotary-Pin-Land featuring the many pins that our Rotarians have was given by Rotarian Susan Fraser last week as she did her Rotary Minute. The list was extensive, the poetry expressive!  After her informative session, President Christine presented Rotarian Susan with a Heart of Rotary Pin, a new one to add to her collection!

Benched! A Community Service Project

Many thanks to Rotarian Claude Myles who arranged to have the remaining six benches made by inmates to be installed at various locations around our community.
