Our joint fundraising event to help raise funds for those affected by Hurricane Irma was a fun filled fellowship and fundraising success. Rotarians, Rotaractors and friends gathered at The Office Lounge for some spirited karaoke where patrons paid to sing or for someone to stop singing! None of those I recall..some voices were amazing!!
There were also several raffle prizes with drawings throughout the night. Rotary raised CI $2,700 which will be sent along with commitments from each club to the Hurricane Irma Disaster Recovery Fund that was established for the district.
Youth Committee
The Youth Committee met August 23rd. Director Jerrell and four members discussed the focus of the year, which will be anti bullying and substance abuse.
Mrs. Chow at Georgetown Primary confirmed that the kids are keen to get started with Early Act, which will have its first meeting September 21st at noon in her classroom.
Need Your Heart
The Cayman Heart Fund is looking for Heart Survivors.
Nominations are now being reviewed for residents that have suffered a severe cardiovascular episode. Survivors will be included in the new Heart Survivors Wall display at the Cayman Islands Hospital.

Rev. Charles was a successful business man from 1973 to 1982 and became a Christian in 1978 and became pastor then started his first church in 1984.
He was involved in starting 2 drug addicted restoration centers (Teen Challenge) has organized 5 provincial youth conventions for 900 to +1500 participants. He pastored 4 churches in Quebec and he was a speaker in conventions in Europe, French Polynesia, Africa and served as a mission director for more than 6 years. He was involved in starting 2 food banks in the western part of Quebec and was involved with the founding director Manon Papillon of the largest food bank on the south shore of Montreal (Action Nouvelle Vie) that gives out food to more than 3000 people per month on a weekly and by-weekly terms and has 7 programs for single-parent’s families and newborn babies program and the go back to school program.
He was also the founding director of a youth and young adults training camp for 4 years, was on staff in New Life Church (Église Nouvelle Vie) from 2001-2004 and from 2010-2012 (3800 members) and was the co-pastor at First Assembly of God from 2007 to 2010 and during that time had started a food pantry at FAOG and has returned to Cayman in July 2016 after he had to return to Canada for the passing away of is first wife Lucienne. He has since then remarried with Manon Papillon who was a co-worker at Action Nouvelle Vie and at New Life Church. Manon was on the founding comity for Canada’s nation wide food bank association. Pastor Charles Boucher is back at FAOG and is in the process of starting the first complete Food Bank on the Island with an opening of other different programs attached to it.
