   The 2016 CIIP Lera Parchment Battle of the Books quiz competition was the most highly-contested battle yet! This annual competition organised by the Cayman Islands Information Professionals (CIIP) is based on America’s Battle of the Books.  Student teams from the local schools read ten set books in depth over the course of the school year.  The final battle, which took place at Sir John A. Cumber Primary School on Saturday 7th May, had the teams pitted against each other to see which students knew their book trivia best.  Twelve teams from six local schools participated in the event, along with some twenty volunteer quiz masters, score keepers and time keepers including Rotary Sunrise President Christine, PP Hendrik van Genderen and Literacy Director Su Mander.
   The Junior Division teams ended in an exciting tie-breaker round between George Town Primary and St. Ignatius. The two teams were eventually crowed Joint Junior Champions and were closely followed-up by the CIS team. The Senior Division Champions were Cayman Prep followed-up by the Runners-up, John Gray High School.  Other participating teams were: the SJACPS Mystery Readers, the CIS Cats in the Hat, the CIS Olympians, the St. Ignatius Lightning Thieves, the St. Ignatius Spikes, the St. Ignatius Hedwigs and the St. Ignatius Potter Heads. Congratulations to all the winners and participants!
   CIIP extends it thanks to key sponsors of the event including Rotary Sunrise, LIFE (Literacy is for Everyone), the Parchment family, CIPLS, Cayman Distributors Group and Pizza Hut, with further thanks to the amazing volunteer judges and master-quizzers.

 When no one else rose to the call last week, Rotaract Vice President Pierre stepped into the role as sergeant at arms and easily managed to wrangle cash from us all. Thank you Pierre!
Georgetown Hospital Mental Health Outpatient Unit Makeover

 Visit the District Website and download the Flyer and Registration Form. Read all the information about registering. MAKE SURE TO COME ON BACK for Step Three! 
 Step Three
 This step involves you recognizing the inevitable - That there is no way you want to miss this conference, and you should probably register as soon as possible to secure your cabin! It is also the stage where you realize that this is a great value-for-money Conference to attend, as prices include your room, all food, taxes and fees, and Conference Registration. Only a $200 deposit is required right now to secure your ROOM. (not per person). Several months to pay the balance! (Prices are per person based on double occupancy. Rate sheet has more detailed pricing).
 Step Four 
 This stage is where you think about procrastinating. This is why you probably missed Bahamas or ended up paying last minute prices! Then you remember that action is the key to success and you fill out the Registration form and email to our travel agent partner STEVE (His information is on the Flyer and Registration Form). These forms must be sent to STEVE for processing.

Meeting Make-Up Information
    Make-ups: In addition to make-up opportunities at Rotary Sunrise, you can make up absences at another Club in Grand Cayman. The meeting times and places for the other Clubs are: 

   Rotary Club of Grand Cayman Central:
   Meets Tuesday's at the George Town Yacht Club restaurant at 7pm for a 7:30pm start.
 
Rotaract Blue:
Meeting cancelled this week due to the Rotaract District Conference.
 
Rotaract Club of Grand Cayman: Meeting cancelled this week due to the Rotaract District Conference.
 
Rotary Club of Grand Cayman: Thursdays 12:15 for 12:30pm, The Westin hotel ballroom.

If members are unable to make a regular weekly meeting or Rotary event, make-ups can be done online. The e-Club website is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You just need to spend a minimum of 30 minutes on the site and answer some questions to get the make up certificate.
 
   Traveling: If you are going to be traveling for an extended period of time (more than two weeks), be sure to let the Secretary know and remember to submit any make-ups you do in a timely manner.
