Janine Stabler spoke with the club last week about the launch of her new initiative, the Cayman Arts Trust. With 8 staff she presently teaches music to 350 students; approximately 95% are from the private sector. It was her wish to bring music to local students that led her to form the Trust.
The goal of the Cayman Arts Trust is as follows:
To provide funding for Caymanians to receive individual/group instrumental lessons (including cost of external examinations)
To provide funding for Caymanians to receive performing arts lessons (including costume hire for shows)
To cover cost of a full instrumental music scholarship each year open to all eligible students
To cover the cost of a full performing arts scholarship each year open to all eligible students
To create a scholarship for talented students wishing to further develop overseas at specialised music and drama colleges
To offer free peripatetic programs in the Government school system
To offer free workshops/courses/camps to students during vacation time from visiting specialist teachers
To cover the cost of instruments and resources required in peripatetic and performing arts programs.
Janine and her staff will have a fundraising dinner for their initiative in the near future.
