RCGC Rotaractors Take Over a Sunrise Meeting!
Submitted by Communications

In celebration of World Rotaract Week, our Rotaractors lead our club meeting last Wednesday. At the helm was President Stephanie, PE Matthew Seales and Sargeant Mikhail Campbell. They got us on our feet with a fun ice breaker game and after some announcements, President Stephanie made a presentation on current RCGC projects and events and gave us some insight as to what they have coming up!
As Rotarians we welcome their energy and passion as they partner with us on some Rotary projects. Our plans are to continue to strengthen our relationship with our Rotaractors as they are the future of Rotary, and the future looks bright!

Buy a Kid a Book Collections Update
Submitted by Communications

Thank you to all Rotarians and Rotaractors who volunteered on Saturday to raise funds for the Rotary Sunrise Buy a Kid a Book Program. Over $1200 dollars were raised between 2 locations. Funds raised go towards buying books to be placed in public school libraries.

We got 2 more weekends to go, volunteers will be at Cost U Less & Kirk Market on Saturday, March 21st and at Foster's Strand location on Saturday, March 28th. There are some volunteers spots available for March 21st, so if you have an hour to spare, please contact Rotarian Pauline to sign up and help raise funds for this great program.

The Rotary Foundation and UNESCO-IHE Institute for Water Education
Submitted by Communications

Dear District Governors, District Rotary Foundation Committee Chairs, District Scholarships Subcommittee Chairs, and District Grants Subcommittee Chairs:

The Rotary Foundation and UNESCO-IHE Institute for Water Education, which are working together to tackle the world’s water and sanitation crisis, this year will award a limited number of scholarships for graduate students at UNESCO-IHE’s Delft campus in the Netherlands. The partnership aims to increase the number of trained professionals who can devise, plan, and implement water and sanitation solutions in developing areas. The scholarships also are designed to promote long-term productive relationships between Rotarians and skilled water and sanitation professionals in their communities.
Scholarship applications, for studies in 2015-17, can be submitted online. Please see the overview for more details. Additional information also is available in the application tool kit, the club district/application and scholarship terms and conditions. Applications are due by  15 June.
If you have questions or concerns, please contact grants@rotary.org

Sincerely,
Abby McNear, Rotary Grants Manager

Sunrise Supports Heart Health Fair 2015
Submitted by Communications

Rotary Sunrise Rotarians assisted again this year with the Heart Health Fair, Get Fit Challenge where kids who registered received an activity card. This card was to be presented when they completed activities at the various stations. Once their card was full (or had more than 6 stamps), they were eligible to pick a prize from the prize table. Prizes ranged from footballs, basketballs, beach balls, volleyballs, kites of various sizes, swim goggles, waterboards, pool noodles, frisbees etc and may other sports related items.
Cards that were full (or had more than 6 stamps), were also entered into the main prize draw. Up for grabs were 2 sleek, black TREK brand bikes donated by Uncle Bills. Shae Hollins (in the pink shirt) was the winner of the over 10 age group and Samara McCoy (in the yellow shirt) was the winner of the under 10 age group.
There were also karate demonstrations, Zumba lessons, dance performances and a session on food nutrition. Elmo from Sesame Street even made his appearance! The event took place at the ARC at Camana Bay from 10am - 2pm. Thank you to all volunteers to assisted throughout the day and to Community Chair Deirdre for once again coordinating this great project!
