March is Water and Sanitation Month

This month's International Theme is Water and Sanitation. We plan to bring the club's awareness to these important causes both locally and internationally.

Good Times at the Leap Day Happy Hour Fellowship

Fun was had by at as Rotarians and Rotaractors turned out in fine form for free pizza and hors d'oeuvres at Brooklyn restaurant in Camana Bay on Monday February 29th for the once in four years Happy Hour.

Want to help with Youth and Literacy?
Volunteer for the Paired Reading Program!

Our club indicated that Literacy is their favorite volunteer project, and Literacy Is For Everyone has served that purpose for the past 4 years. LIFE’s Paired Reading program is staffed by volunteers. We currently have over 150 volunteers participating across the government schools in Grand Cayman. Volunteers are paired with an individual student to provide one-to-one assistance with their reading for 30 minutes each week at the school.

If you are able to give a half hour of your time weekly to read with a student, please contact Director Marilyn Conolly at marilyn.conolly@life.org.ca or let Faye Lippitt know at our club meeting and she will help you find a school that suits your schedule. The schedules are as follows:

East End Primary School: Friday 2:05pm - 2:35pm

Edna Moyle Primary (North Side): Thursday 1pm - 2pm

Bodden Town Primary: Tuesday 8am - 8:30am

Savannah Primary: Wednesday 8am - 8:30am

Prospect Primary: Thursday 1pm - 1:30pm

Red Bay Primary: Wednesday 1pm - 1:45pm

George Town Primary: Tuesday 1:15pm  - 1:45pm

Sir John A. Cumber Primary: Monday 12:30pm - 1pm

John Gray High School: Friday 8am - 8:30am

Clifton Hunter High School: Thursday 7:50am - 8:20am

RCGC is gearing up for our 6th Annual Hearts and Homeruns Fundraiser but with a twist! Instead of the fundraiser being a softball tournament, it will be a kickball tournament!

Date and Time: Sunday, March 6th at 3pm
Location: Field of Dreams, Field 3
How it works? Kickball teams will be created by pooling together everyone who wants to compete and splitting up into equal teams.
Cost: $15 per person which includes a plate of food

Water and ice will be provided but please BYOB. There will be some amazing raffle prizes up for grabs and also opportunities for a team to buy "handicaps" for other teams. The way handicaps work is that you can purchase one to effect someone on the opposing team. The effect lasts until the end of the inning.  Examples of the handicaps are having to use your non-primary foot to kick the ball, or having to spin around several times before kicking the ball. The cost for per handicap is $1.

Guests are welcome to attend so feel free to invite everyone you know! We are excited to be getting together with our Rotafam, friends and guests for some fun and friendly kickball and course fellowship!

Hope to see you all there!
