RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards) Cayman

GRAND CAYMAN, CAYMAN ISLANDS June 23, 2015 — The Rotary and Rotaract Clubs of the Cayman Islands work together to host the first RYLA event in Grand Cayman from 13th to 16 August 2015. Students age 15 to 18 in August 2015 are eligible to apply. This first time event will be held at UCCI.  Students will be staying three nights in a hotel supervised by RYLA staff with all meals provided.
 
A maximum of 36 students will have the opportunity to participate and the cost of their participation will be borne by the Rotary Clubs of Grand Cayman including:  Rotary Club of Grand Cayman, Rotary Club of Grand Cayman Central (Rotary Central) and Rotary Club of Grand Cayman Sunrise.  The event is also supported by YMCA Cayman Islands.  Students selected from Cayman Brac will have their travel expenses paid.
 
RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards) is a four-day conference that will bring you rewards you never knew you could achieve. It will challenge you to make great new friends, learn to be a fantastic leader, and help you develop skills for all types of situations during your next steps in life.
 
RYLA emphasizes leadership, citizenship, and personal growth, and aims to:
  • Demonstrate Rotary’s respect and concern for youth
  • Provide an effective training experience for selected youth and potential leaders
  • Encourage leadership of youth by youth
  • Recognize publicly young people who are rendering service to their communities
