58 individuals were screened.
Four were newly diagnosed diabetics.
Ten diabetics were seen (Five of which were uncontrolled and were referred to their general practitioner and also to a dietitian). One of these uncontrolled diabetics was urgently referred to the hospital because of the extremely high blood sugar level and another non-diabetic condition that was identified.

Rotary Central's free diabetes screening in East End on Saturday June 18th went extremely well. Individuals were present before the screening was scheduled to begin. Mr. Arden McLean, who greatly assisted with the screening preparations was the first to be registered and screened.

Members of the Cayman Islands Diabetes Association were present to recruit new members.

Because of this screening event, individuals have been given the opportunity to enjoy a better quality of life both because of their early diagnosis and because they were diagnosed before they had begun to experience the negative effects of diabetes on their vital organs.

Thank you fellow Rotarians who volunteered. Thanks to Rot. Steve Moore and Rot. Colin for persevering when the demands had peaked. Thanks to PP Mario and his wife Lovenia for volunteering while celebrating their wedding anniversary. Thanks to Nurse Manager Karen Pinnock for volunteering to counsel and perform tests. Last but not least, thank you Kimberly, who zealously worked and took pictures of the event.
