Rotary Central's Home Page Stories
Every year, on the last Saturday of November, the Rotary Central Cayman Islands hosts one of the most highly anticipated events on the island—the Music Extravaganza. This event is not just a night of entertainment; it’s a celebration of community, music, and charitable giving, all coming together for a more significant cause.

A Tradition of Music and Giving

For nearly three decades, the Music Extravaganza has been a signature fundraiser for Rotary Central Cayman Islands, bringing together some of the best local bands, generous prize giveaways, and a lively atmosphere that attracts hundreds of attendees.

The event is more than just a concert—it’s a platform that unites the community to support impactful projects that improve lives across the Cayman Islands. From youth development programs to health initiatives and environmental projects, proceeds from the event go directly into local community service efforts.

A Wonderful & Unforgettable Night of Music
The Music Extravaganza features some of Cayman’s most talented performers, ensuring a night of unforgettable live music. Past events have showcased bands like:

🎤 Heat
🎶 Goodnight Hannah
🥁 JR Douglas Band

Each performance brings electrifying energy that keeps the crowd entertained and dancing well into the night.

Exciting Prizes & Community Impact
One of the biggest draws of the Music Extravaganza is the cash prize giveaway, which offers attendees the chance to win substantial rewards. In previous years, prizes have included:
🏆 Grand Prize: CI$40,000
🎟️ Second Prize: CI$4,000
💰 Additional Prizes: Multiple CI$1,000 prizes

Beyond the excitement, every ticket sold contributes to Rotary’s ongoing community service initiatives, including:
  • Education & Youth Programs – Scholarships, mentorship, and school support.
  • Health & Wellness – Access to medical aid and community health projects.
  • Environmental Conservation – Beach clean-ups, tree planting, and sustainability projects.
  • Humanitarian Aid – Support for vulnerable individuals and families in need.

In a heartening display of community collaboration, members from four Rotary Clubs, two Lions Clubs, one Leo Club, one Kiwanis Club, and two Optimist Clubs joined forces on Saturday, September 14, to breathe new life into a local park in the Prospect District of Grand Cayman. Together, they planted 26 trees in an initiative that not only enhanced the community's green spaces but also marked International Community Week.
August is recognized as Membership Month in the Rotary calendar. Rotary Central Cayman Islands made the most of it by organizing a series of events to celebrate and expand its vibrant membership. These events showcased the club’s dedication to professional development, fellowship, and community engagement. Rotary Central prides itself on being an irresistible club and engages in initiatives from the Membership Action Plan (MAP).
The Honourable Deputy Premier of the Cayman Islands, Mr. Christopher Saunders having been invited to address Rotary Central Cayman Islands by its Community Service Director Patrick Schmid in connection with the Rotary International theme for October, 2021 of "Community and Economic Development," addressed the issues of strengthening and diversifying the economy as well as the issue of 're-opening' in a world living with the Covid-19 pandemic.
Working with the Ministry for Home Affairs, the Department for Community Rehabilitation and Her Majesty's Cayman Islands Prison service, Rotary Central is trying to help hard-working individuals who are re-entering society in our various communities to do so as smoothly as possible, with as much education, job preparation and support to continue to develop the self esteem to truly become a part of the wider community again, adding benefit to themselves and the wider community by again becoming contributing citizens.
Continuing our involvement in and commitment to the excellent work being done by Ms. Jackie Neal and the Loud, Silent, Voices Organisation we hope to continue to make an exponentially increasing difference in the provision of care and assistance to the mentally challenged in our community.

Director of Community Service, Rotarian Colin shared these pictures of the painting under way at the T.E. McField Centre. Looking good!
