Jamar Jason Mccoy and Raheem Mclean from West End Primary have been selected as 2 of the 10 published writers in the second Annual Rotary Butterfly E-Storybook writing project in the Caribbean.  This project was sponsored by the Rotary E Club of the Caribbean, 7020 and the finalists were chosen from among 132 writers in the region. Congratulations!

 

President Dhallchand Seeram of the Rotary Club of Cayman Brac extended a warm welcome to teachers, parents, grandparents, fellow Rotarians and all the other writers from West End Primary and Creek and Spot Bay schools at a special dinner meeting on Monday March 17, 2014 to honour the students and to encourage them to continue writing. All students received certificates of participation. They are Jamar McCoy, Tristin Levy, Donavon Tatum, Raheem McLean, Regina Scott, Keira Bodden, Shajaidy Robinson, Lucy Parchman , Keron Parchman and William Hurlstone.  Rotary E Club President Kitty Bucsko, in her letters sent to individual students requested them to “Please don’t ever lose your love of reading and writing. Your interest in writing can lead you on a very successful path in your future”. The writing project this year was based on the topic “Families working together and helping each other”

 

President Dhal also shared a little about the good work of Rotary in the local and international community and emphasized Rotary role in the literacy and polio eradication programme. A small donation was collected from the audience towards the polio fund and they were all very excited to show using the thumb and index finger of the right hand that “We Are This Close “ to end polio.

 

It was great evening of fun and fellowship and after dinner children heartily sang “if you happy and you know it say- Amen”
