WINNERS OF THE DISTRICT 7020 CLUB OF THE MONTH AWARD FOR SEPTEMBER 2010
The Rotary Club of Tortola was the winner of September's "Club of the Month Award" in Rotary District 7020, which consists of 80 Clubs in 10 Caribbean Countries. The month of September was designated "New Generations Month". The Rotary Club of Tortola was recognized for its leadership development programmes geared towards building positive change among the young people of the BVI.
Young people 30 and under enroll in Rotary programmes to learn skills that will help them to become future leaders. Youth programmes allow participants to discover more about themselves and the World by participating in community projects, leadership training and cultural exchanges. Young people also learn about the principles of ethics, service and fellowship that Rotarians exemplify.
Chartered in January 1968, the Rotary Club of Tortola is one of the most mature Clubs in District 7020. The Club's President, Lorna Smith stated: "The fact that we beat out 80 Clubs in Jamaica, Bahamas, Cayman Islands, Turks & Caicos, Anguilla, St. Martin, St. Barts, Haiti, and the
