Hurricane Irma has caused a serious situation for many residents in the British Virgin Islands.  Significant damages to properties making no special selection! Unfortunately, among those suffered from the devastation are the elderly, disabled persons, low income homeowners, single mother and children who are in need of assistance.

The photo shows the progress made in replacing an elderly woman's roof in Purcell Estate, Tortola.  She lost her roof during Hurricane Irma and had to evacuate to a shelter. Using material funded by the BVI Rotary Clubs, skilled workers install a new roof which will see this elderly woman living in a safe and warm home.  This is  just one of the many projects that the BVI Rotary Clubs have embarked on after the hurricanes that left many persons homeless.  The BVI braved two back to back hurricanes (Irma and Maria) in September which resulted in massive destruction everywhere.

Assistant Governor Elvis Harrigan who is instrumental on the rehabilitation projects stated that "The extent of our work is to repair or replace roofs on these projects."  He further stated that the the BVI Rotary family are aiming to do 50 projects like this throughout the BVI.

This is an exciting project because we are helping the less fortunate get back in their homes and back on their feet.  Hats off to all who gave their time, talents and other resources on these projects.
