EARTHQUAKE IMPACTS HAITI - AUGUST 2021.

PLEASE CAN YOU HELP ROTARY HELP HAITI RECOVER?

BVI Rotary Family has once again come together in organizing relief and recovery assistance, this time to the persons impacted by the devastating 7.2 magnitude earthquake that struck Haiti.  As an initial response, the BVI Rotary Clubs has a local Bank account to support this initiative.  Experts both in Haiti and in Disaster response report that cash is the most effective and efficient way to aid those who are in need immediately. Understandably, those in Haiti need our help and as such, we are asking for the public to open their hearts once again and assist in this secure way.  Please donate if you can.

On August 14th, a major 7.2 magnitude earthquake struck southern Haiti near the port city of Les Cayes on the southern coast, damaging critical infrastructure, with reports of over 10,000 injured, over 2,000 deaths and others are reportedly still missing.

Haiti has experienced numerous disastrous events from annual impacts of hurricanes and other storms (including Hurricane Matthew in 2016 and most recently Hurricane Elsa earlier this year), the devastating 2010 earthquake, the current COVID pandemic and political and economic instability.

As People of Action, we have discussed amongst the leadership within the BVI Rotary Family the best response and taken into account the numerous people who have reached out to Rotarians asking how they can help.

Why donate with ROTARY?

As one of the leading and most transparent service organizations globally, Rotary has organized numerous disaster relief efforts for many countries throughout the Caribbean thanks to the kind donations from the citizens of the British Virgin Islands.  Rotary also has a deep network of Rotarians and Clubs on the ground in Haiti to lead humanitarian efforts together with a Caribbean Disaster Relief and Recovery committee, which was initially set up after the 2010 earthquake.  Rotary is a trusted organization that has established links between communities: Rotarians in Haiti working in coordination with local community leaders determine how best the money is spent.

With your generous support, Rotary will help Haiti recover from this latest disaster. ALL MONEY RAISED WILL GO TOWARDS THE RELIEF AND RECOVERY EFFORTS. There are no intermediary charges or deductions, 100% of MONEY raised goes to fund work on the ground.

Following the 2010 Earthquake disaster, much of the money raised by Rotary was geared towards rebuilding schools. Funds raised specifically from the BVI funded the rebuilding the Evangelical Baptist School Of Simon Cayes. Thankfully, this school survived this earthquake and is now available to act as a shelter or temporary field hospital.

Please help Rotary on the ground in Haiti by supporting this fundraising campaign, lets do good together!
