The Rotary Club of West Nassau commenced its tree-planting initiative with the planting of the two national plants - the lignum vitae, our national tree and the yellow elder, our national flower.
This project is a part of the tree-planting initiative being led by Rotary International President Ian Riseley. RI President Riseley has asked that each Rotarian plant a tree between the start of the Rotary year and Earth Day 2018, which is Sunday April 22nd.
These are the first of 52 trees the West Club will be planting throughout the island. The club intends to involve the Rotaract. Interact and EarlyAct clubs in this initiative as an avenue to have closer collaboration between the senior and youth arms of Rotary.
The first set of trees were planted at Gambier Park during the 3rd Annual Back to School Jam. This helped to serve as a part of the RCWN partnership with the Gambier community. #pledgetoplant
