As the world transitions to the “new normal” with greater use of digital technology since the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Rotary Club of Nassau Sunrise continues its efforts to improve literacy with the launch of a free digital library service.

As persons, households, businesses and governments around the world continue to living in a world with coronavirus, so too is the Rotary Club of Nassau Sunrise adapting how it supports its communities. To support its efforts to encourage literacy in The Bahamas, the Rotary Club of Nassau Sunrise recently launched its virtual free library. This project, largely designed to provide a free means of accessing books to school aged children. While the platform includes traditional children’s book, the platform will continue to build a large collection of books by young Bahamian authors.

The features of the platform allow for the collection of data such as which books have been viewed, how long each reader spends on each page, age, school, and other factors designed to aid in measuring the impact of reading programs. The Rotary Club of Nassau Sunrise aims to target a minimum of 250 kids to the world of reading and improve overall literacy.
