Invite a friend, family member, colleague to join Rotary.
Encourage Them to Be Part of Something GREAT!!!
Why wouldn’t you want them to be part of an organization that feeds the hungry, cures the sick, provides education to women and children, provides clean water and sanitation. And now is taking on the environment.

PROGRAM: Haider Alawami introduced Rick Shroeder, the Executive Director of Many Mansions. Rick has been their Exec. Director since 2002 and announced Many Mansions is celebrating its 45th year in operation.
Rick came today to talk about the Thrive Grove Project, also know as the Thousand Oaks Navigation Center. This is a collaboration with the County and the City of T.O. and three non-profits; Many Mansions, Dignity Moves, and Hope the Mission. Each non-profit has a role to play.
This is a center with modular homes, each approximately 64 square feet which will house adult homeless persons. There are also dining facilities, where people are given 3 meals each day. There are a total of 30 units currently (can go up to 50 in the future) 5 of the units are designated to the police for emergencies getting a person off the streets. Showers and bathrooms are separate. The goal is to work with each person to get them off the street, get them stabilized and eventually introduced back into society. The center has medical, mental health facilities as well as classes to teach life skills.
The project is on Lawrence drive in an industrial area. The residents are required to pay rent for the modular home and can only stay a maximum of 6 months. This is not permanent housing, it is transitional. There are rules, like no drinking or drugs on the property, no loud noise, practice a good neighbor policy.
They need support from the community both in volunteers and donations. Many Mansions Bowls of Hope fundraiser is going to be October 12th.
President Pat asked Rick to sign a book which will be donated to a Title one school in our area.
