BECOMING A ROTARIAN IS A MEANINGFUL EXPERIENCE....

Invite a friend, family member, colleague to join Rotary.

Encourage Them to Be Part of Something GREAT!!!

Why wouldn’t you want them to be part of an organization that feeds the hungry, cures the sick, provides education to women and children, provides clean water and sanitation.   And now is taking on the environment.

PROGRAM: Pres. Darin Arrasmith introduced the speakers from Amgen, saying that Amgen is an important member of our community.

Speaker Chad Pettit.... has been with Amgen for 25 years.

Amgen's sole mission is to serve their patients. Amgen currently employs over 28,000 people worldwide.  The Thousand Oaks site alone has over 5,000 employees. It is over 100 acres and has 30 buildings.  Their primary operations include Research and Development and Manufacturing.  They have just started constructing their Center for Science and Innovation.  County Supervisor and T.O. Rotarian- Jeff Gorell said "Ventura County's identity is now inseparable from Amgen and the life sciences.  Just as Detroit has automobiles ...and Napa has wine and Vegas has casinos, we have life-saving innovation".

Globally they have served over 15 million patients. Amgen believes in being community responsible, their foundation contributed over 2.5 billion already.  They also believe in educating the community.  They train teachers and provide the resources and materials so they can in turn teach their students.  This program has already reached over 40,000 students.

Amgen wants to ensure that every patient that needs their medications, gets their medications regardless of their income.

At the end Cassidy Johnson and Ben Chu (not pictured) from Amgen came forward and answered questions.

Pres. Darin presented a book to our speakers to sign that will be donated to a title one school in our area.
