The Thousand Oaks Rotary Club is proud to be a Peace Builder Club.
President Darin opened the meeting welcoming everyone and saying we are nearing the end of his year as President. He let us know that incoming President-Michelle Nash was in Taiwan for the International Convention.
Inspirational Moment – Regina Biddings-Muro started by saying Rotary is famous for its' world altering goals- Polio eradication, clean water and more- all to make the world a better place. She said, "we do magnificent projects in our community and around the world and we are making a difference because of the work we do"; "Thank You for the inspiration to become a better and larger version of yourself"
After Regina led the Pledge of Allegiance, Nancy Wohl led the room in America the Beautiful.

David Masci and Mike Pruner announced the Demotion Party for President Darin on June 26th at 5:30 PM. It is going to be a lot of fun, and everyone should try to be there. See Mike Pruner to sign up.
Pat Mc Coy introduced Bruce Stewart III and his son Steward IV. They were there to talk about Juneteenth. A celebration is going to be held at Plaza Park in Oxnard on June 20th from 10 Am-6pm. Juneteenth celebrates the official end of slavery in the United States. The event will include music, food, vendors.

who is joining the Rotary Club of T.O. as a CLU Business Member. She is in her 3rd month as the Assistant Provost for Student Success at CLU. She is described as having infectious enthusiasm and is dedicated to her students. Her father was deeply involved in Rotary and was even a District Governor. One of the first things she mentioned when she joined CLU was, she wanted to find a way to get involved in Rotary, not knowing that CLU had a Business Membership..... it was fortuitous.
Darin performed the formal induction ceremony and afterwards Andrea said this was a really big day for her because service is so important to her and she wants to follow in her father's footsteps (who unfortunately passed away just 3 months earlier). She said, I know, he knows I am now a Rotarian. WELCOME ANDREA!!!!!
Monica Murrietta $5 for the Hope Walk that raised 125K net. She thanked the Rotarians that helped- Rich Folsom, Karen Albaum, Larry Baker, Michelle Nash and Deanne Justinson for WL Rotary.

Patricia Jones said the New West Symphony is performing a 250th celebration concert at the Reagan Library. 6/27 at 7:30 pm and a 4th of July concert at Hendricks Park.

PROGRAM: Craft Talks is a way of getting to know some of our Thousand Oaks Rotary Rotarians better. Sara Collins first called up Jody Wintermute.
Jody retired a couple months ago from her fulltime job as an accounting manager for a non-profit trade association.
Her favorite activity is swimming- it's a great low-impact exercise and it gives her some quiet time to think. Her favorite movie is all romantic comedies and adventure movies, the last movie she saw was Michael. Her favorite Rotary activity was working at the Chili Cook off and she loved meeting Rotarians and learning about their work as part of her new member requirements. Her favorite summer vacation was Africa- she loved the animals, nature and the fact that all humanity started in Africa.
The next Rotarian was Michael Ladd. His favorite activity is Karaoke, and he loves to sing Frank Sinatras Summer Wind. Why did he join Rotary? He said he has been involved for a long time before joining- as a member of the Rotary Choir and his wife is a former member. He joined Pat Mc Coy's year. His favorite part of the Four-Way Test is "Is it fair to all concerned". His most embarrassing moment was falling up some stairs. The last movie he saw was "Hail Mary". His background is he retired in 2017, used to work with Skip Roberts in HOA property management. He reads a lot of thriller books. Biggest life lesson " he said his wife is a lesson in itself" and it is important to continue to work on relationships for the long term.
The next Rotarian was Pat Hanley she has been a real estate broker for 32 years. She loves math and did audits for an oil company around the country. She has 4 kids, all have ADHD like her. She said the best thing she has ever done in her life is being a mom. She said the average price of a home in the Conejo Valley is 1 -1.2 million. Her Favorite vacation- she said she hasn't taken a vacation in over 7 years....it's been 7 years since her son passed away. She instead participates in Team Rubicon and has learned to use a chainsaw. It has made her a new person. If she wrote an autobiography, it would be called "what the hell happened to Pat Hanley". Favorite Rotary activity is the Chili Cook off. She doesn't sing Karaoke because she said she is the worst singer ever. Greatest Superpower is trying to recruit people to become a new you. She said you decide your own destiny.
Darin ended the meeting by saying he would see everyone next week, but not the following week because we are dark.
