PROGRAM:
Vicki introduced Daniel Wood, a long-time friend of our Club. Daniel mentioned that he met Matt Lallo 21 years ago and they had done many projects together. Then Heather Johnson cited the several decades of splendid work that our clubs have done together. Heather shared that there some important upcoming events – the 94th anniversary of their being the first club in their District (#4100) and their annual golf tournament on November 21st.

PROGRAM: Darin introduced Sarah Hawkins and Deborah Kahn from the Conejo Free Clinic. Sarah began her presentation by talking about the Clinic being advocates for health care access for all. She thanked the Club for all the support the Club has provided over the years. Sarah said the motivation for her work with the Clinic was her mother’s personal health issues. She then introduced Debbie Kahn, the Operational Manager for the Clinic. Debbie said the Free Clinic is an amazing place to work and thanked everyone for the invitation to speak. Her background is in Nursing – she said she was looking to do volunteer work and is passionate about her work with the Clinic. Debbie discussed a number of topics: 1) Who We Are -  their goal is to offer high quality care, 2) Their Team – they have a small staff of seven with over 100 volunteers, 3) Funding – they are dependent on grants and corporate donations; they get no Federal funds, 4) Services – among their services are that they administer vaccines, give general medical exams, and are big on patient advocacy, 5) Women’s Health – all offered at no cost, 6) Specialty Care – offer referrals to their health care partners, 7) Dental Program, 8) Legal Services, 9) Community Partnership – as an ongoing process, they work on connecting their patients to as many resources as possible.

Debbie concluded by talking about how one can become involved and that they are always looking for volunteers.

Vicki reminded all that there would be a tour of the Free Clinic after the conclusion of our meeting.

Darin had Sarah and Debbie sign books for a Title One School.
