MEMBERSHIP IS IMPORTANT....
Invite a friend, family member, colleague to join Rotary.
Encourage Them to Be Part of Something GREAT!!!
Why wouldn’t you want them to be part of an organization that feeds the hungry, cures the sick, provides education to women and children, provides clean water and sanitation. And now is taking on the environment.
President Pat opened the meeting and let the club know that the 17 Paul Harris awards needed to support our upcoming grant for the girls' school in India were ALL donated by club members. He also reminded everyone that the district step down party and awards presentations are Saturday the 14th. Carpooling is available.
Pledge and Song: Ken Warner was then asked to lead the club in the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by Michael Ladd and Trevor Tylochleading everyone in God Bless America- with a little help from Ean Kleiger.
Inspirational Moment: Ken Warner said there is so much disagreement in the world right now. Disagreement isolates us. He encouraged us to listen to other's opinions and understand we are not all the same so we should try to understand others not just disagree with them.

New Member Induction Ceremony
President Pat always says his favorite duty as President is inducting a new member. Today Gary Seigel, sponsored by Karen Albaum was inducted into the Rotary Club of Thousand Oaks.
Karen has known Gary for many years and describes him as a "smart businessman" who is going to be a wonderful addition to our club".
After President Pat performed the formal induction ceremony, Gary stated that he is proud to become a member and looking forward to helping in every way he can and giving back to our community.
David Masci let everyone know that this year's Wine Festival will be held on August 24th. He encouraged everyone to support the event by becoming a sponsor, donating a silent auction item, buying raffle tickets, go to other clubs to promote the event and helping at the event.
David Masci and Laura Conway then asked President Pat to leave the room so they could talk about Pres. Pat's demotion party, which in our club tradition it is a "Roast" of the person at the end of their presidency. Because Pat reads this bulletin I will not put in details...... just encourage everyone to attend on Friday June 27th. It will be in place of our regular Thursday luncheon (we will be dark that day). It is going to be fun and worth attending. Signup sheets will be on the tables this week..... or contact David or Laura to r.s.v.p.
Nancy Wohl then announced Shakespeare in the Park at CLU on June 20th. T.O. Rotary is a sponsor, so you do not need to pay to see the performance. Sign up to bring a potluck item to share that evening.

PROGRAM: Poison Free Conejo Valley- Haider Alawami introduced the guest speakers- Robin Bertolucci and Bambi Steinmeier
Robin reminded everyone that we are very lucky to live in an area where there are owls, mountain lions, raccoons, coyotes, and more, but we have to remember that we share this space with them. When we use chemical pesticides to kill rodents we are also endangering other wildlife that feed on rodents.
Mary Logan from the National Park service said "Rodent Poison is Wildlife Poison" she said last year 29 out of 29 mountain lions tested, were positive for poison in their systems. Every year new poisons are developed, and many do not have antidotes, so our pets are in danger of ingesting these poisons as well and there may not be a way to save them.
Robin encouraged us to use other alternatives and said their website poisonfreeconejovalley.com suggestions for other things you can use. They passed out yard signs we can display to encourage others to "Think before you use poison".
Pres. Pat had each of them sign a book that will be donated to a title one school in our area in their honor.
