President Darin started the meeting with some trivia, stating that on this day in 1959, Hawaii was made the 50th state in the Union, also Oldsmobile was established in 1879.

INSPIRATIONAL MOMENTJeremy Paris was invited up to do the Pledge and Inspirational Moment.  He is inspired by the opening of the new Navigation Center which was established to provide housing for the homeless.  He was happy that an elderly couple that has been living in their car have settled into the center for the past two weeks.   After the Pledge Marc Feigen and Trevor Tyloch led the group in God Bless America.  

GUEST INTRODUCTIONS. Karen Furnari handled the introductions: Joani Kent from WLV Sunrise, Jack Jacobs from the Ojai Club, Carl Alani back from Texas, Matt Lallo's wife-Teresa LalloKaren Albaum's friend from Chicago-Carol, and Jim Friedl's guest- Dorothy Sullivan.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:
 
Joani Kent from WLV Sunrise Rotary came forward to talk about a Group 4 project-a Rotary Relay for Life team- Team members will come from all of the Group 4 Rotary Clubs.  The team's name is Rotary for Life.  Relay for Life is a walk to raise money for cancer awareness and treatments.  The event will be held on Sept. 27th at CLU go to https://secure.acsevents.org/goto/rotaryforlife Sign up today.
 
David Masci and Susan Murata reminded everyone that this coming Sunday is the Wine Event.  Susan told everyone about the wonderful silent auction items that are now available to bid on at www.32auctions.com/TORF2025. David said this is a great way the club members can contribute to the event, bid on items and help raise the funds to support our Rotary Foundation and Special Olympics.
 
Michelle Nash said the club is providing lunches for the needy again for Harbor House.  We will be making the lunches on September 6th.  And she announced that Allocations to non-profits will be handed out next week and she thanked everyone on the Allocations Committee. 
 
Nancy Wohl announced that Master PRLS classes will be held Sept 12-14- This is something every Rotarian should try to attend.  The club will pay the fee for the classes.  Nancy also announced that the District 5240 Conference will be held in Ventura this year on Oct 17-19.  Our club can't attend on the 19th because it's the Street Fair but can go the other two days.  This event qualifies to be checked off as one of the New Member Requirements to attend a District event.  
 
Sevak Khodabakhshian happily announced that he is chairing the next Economic Forecast that will be held on Feb 6, 2026, at CLU.  They will have their first meeting in two weeks at 1:30 right after Rotary if anyone is interested in participating.

HAPPY DOLLARS: Cup carried by Susan Murata
 
Susan Murata started with a Happy Dollar for David Masci taking over the Chairing of the Wine Festival and said he is doing a terrific job and deserves a round of applause. (which the club obliged).
 
Nancy Wohl updated Joani Pappas' condition and said she has had surgery to repair her leg and is recovering at the Westlake Rehab center.  
 
Larry Baker  thanked Joani Kent for being there and said her two sons were Eagle Scouts in his Scout group.
 
Michael Ladd said he was checking out the silent auction items for the wine event and they are awesome.
 
Martin Anderson said he remembers inducting Joani Pappas into the club when he was President. He handed her the micro phone to say a few words and she was so shy she just handed it back to him.  She came out of her shell by attending PRLS.
 
Michelle Nash thanked her allocations team for their hard work.
 
Chris Lamia had a sad dollar wondering why noone ever sits up front with President Darin
 
Trevor Tyloch $ for Joani and asked Martin if he scared Joani so she couldn't speak when he inducted her.
 
Jason Corey thanked Larry Baker for helping to set up the room today.
 
Herb Gooch put in a dollar to honor the anniversary of KT Connor and Jere Robings (passed away) who met through Rotary and got married.
 
Pat Mc Coy was happy that Joani Pappas is part of the Rotary Choir and that she brought in her husband Ed Smith who now conducts the group.  Ed is taking good care of Joani while she recovers. _______________________________________________________________

Fine Session: -Ean Kleiger  called on anyone making a smart remark, and said their fine would be they had to do a Fine Session in October
 
The first wise crack was Ken Warner- drinking 1 can of soda per day for one-year can add 15 lbs to your weight,  TRUE.  
 
Trevor Tyloch 25% of people do not brush their teeth twice a day- True
 
Martin Anderson in the 1800's black smiths and Barbers also served as dentists- True
 
Paul Dryman 59% of people would rather visit the dentist than sit next to someone talking on their cell phone.  True
 
All of the above people were FINED a day in October when they have to do the Fine Session -whether they answered the question correctly or not.

Rotary Action Group for PEACE (RAG)-people from all over the globe meets regularly via ZOOM.

PROGRAM: Community Resource Unit.  Sgt Holmes and Deputy Grillo said the main goal of their unit is to strengthen relations with the community especially youth.
 
Some of their outreach programs and services include the Safe Passage program for at risk youth, James Storehouse.  They do educational outreach on bike safety, drug and alcohol awareness, active Shooter training, T.O Police Service Unit for special needs kids.
 
They also do: Kid Print, Volunteers in Policing, the Explorers (youth who want a career in law enforcement), Citizen Academy, Coffee with a Cop, they provide Free vacation home checks.  They participate in the Chili Cook off, Trunk or Treat, Conejo Valley Disability Fair and more
 
All of these things are to build a better, safer community.  And to show that they are part of the community.  They also stressed how important it is to help youth and when you help a youth it generally comes back 10 fold.
 
President Darin thanked the officers for being there and had them sign a book that will be donated to a title one school in their honor.
