PRESENTATION

Bob Cowden presents on the 2010 WORLD MASTERS INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS to be held in Kamloops March 1 - 6, 2010. 
 

2010 WORLD MASTERS INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS: This is the first time the event has left Europe and held in North America.  It is the 4th World Indoor Track and Field Championships. Masters athletes are 35 years old and better.  Age groups are 5 year increments and go to 100+!  2500+ participants from 50+ countries are expected.  500 volunteers will be needed; ambassadors of good will - expect over 200 local, national and international track and field judges; over 100 students (elementary, secondary and post-secondary) for involvement in opening and closing ceremonies, distribution of medals, translation services.  All information will be printed in 4 languages: English, German, French and Spanish.  Host-an-Athlete program is now underway.  BCLC has just come on board as sponsor with $75,000.  Kamloops Track and Field Club has a Masters Athlete training program . . . July 2009 KTFC hosting Canadian Masters Track and Field event.  This is not a large spectator sport but if you would like to attend, it's FREE!

MAY 7 - 10: DISTRICT CONFERENCE: Vernon this year; what a wonderful opportunity to attend!  Interact will be attending: Darrin and Reg to drive

 

MAY 11: EXCHANGE STUDENTS ON BUS TOUR: 2 more host families needed - simple supper and breakfast the next morning . . . please contact Karin if you have Crim Record Check done & can help.

 

MAY 12: GROUP STUDY EXCHANGE PRESENTATION: TRU Grand Hall at 7-9:30pm; $15.00/person.  Morning meeting is cancelled.

 

RACE FOR WATER - June 7, 2009: Each club receives the approx $10,000 profit - Kamloops West this year.  Aurora is up for this in 3 years.  Mike Dedels is going to today's planning meeting.

 

PLATFORM: Reg - Thursday at 6pm sharp!  Meet at the end of McGill Road beside the garden refuse recycling station.

 

INDUCTION: Expect at Sun Rivers; Mike D finalizing and will announce soon.
