Eco Stewardship: Seed Collection at Crow-Hassan Park Reserve

Today there is less than 1% of the pre-European settlement of prairie habitat remaining in Minnesota.  The health of the remaining prairie depends on its biodiversity.  Collecting seeds in the fall of the year is an important contribution to the maintenance of the prairie habitat managed by the Three Rivers Park District.  Learn more about seed collection in Three Rivers Park District.

On August 24th, 2019, members of the Twin Cities Rotary EcoClub (Thank you to Catherine, Stuart, Liz, Steve, Teresa Steve and Sherry) spent a beautiful and peaceful few hours collecting seeds from native prairie plants that the park district will sort and save for spring sowing.  "I wish these pictures could covey just how peaceful and fragrant it was collecting cone flower seed!" - Catherine.
