The 2012 Four-Way-Test Essay Contest, sponsored by the Livingston Sunrise, Hartland and Fowlerville Rotary Clubs, is based on the four principles of ethics as recited by 1.2 million Rotarians in Rotary meetings held in over 34,000 clubs in 200 countries around the world.

The Four-Way-Test challenges Rotarians to live their lives with the following criteria:
In everything you think, say or do: Is it the Truth? Is it fair to all concerned? Will it build goodwill and better friendships? Will it be beneficial to all concerned?

Judges were Rotarians from Livingston County Rotary clubs who scored the essays based on a a Rubric measuring the successful use of the Four-Way Test theme, essay organization, writing structure, style, and mechanics of writing.

The Livingston County essay contest is open annually to area 8th graders, who are encouraged to apply the concepts of the Four-Way-Test to their lives in the words of their essay. Winners of the essay contest and their teachers and/or parents are invited to the award presentation at the weekly breakfast meeting of Livingston Sunrise Rotary on Friday, May 18, 7:15 a.m., held in the lower level Rotary meeting room at Genoa Medical Center, 2305 Grand River, Brighton, MI.
